This is really funny. Dawes has two years to run on a contract. The club have not sacked him. His manager acts like Dawes has a choice. Dawes options are simple he is a required player at Collingwood UNLESS another club pays out his two year contract and offers us a better deal than keeping him. This is only a win for Collingwood. We have him locked in unless we decide to let him go. You can see what's out there all you like but we decide donkey.

Would wanna be a hell of a deal to get both of them.
Terry Wallace the flog says one trade could work is Melb gives us pick 4 and we give Wellers and our first pick, 18 I think.......Ha Ha Ha Ha he is a flog. Then Melb work out a deal with Dawes.......

How about we send him there anyway....
We don't need him!!
What we do need is a high draft pick to use next week.
Melbourne will get both Dawes and Wellingham.
I don't see them getting both.

Dawes is seeking opportunities. So he will likely to go almost anywhere except interstate.

Wellingham was either WA or Collingwood. It's not about opportunity for him, he was testing the market for $$$. Now that the WA clubs have gone cold, sure Melbourne could come in with the $$$$ but Sharrod and his management have stated they want to remain part of some success. It would be a career step backwards for Sharrod to the Dees.

He will stay now IMO.

Wellingham + Dawes + Pick 18 for Pick 4 (Melbourne)

Considering you guys need to free up cap space, apparently, I'd say it would be positive both sides.

lol who said we need to free up cap space?

Wellingham has a contract offer in front of him. Dawes is already contracted. We don't have to free up anything.

That deal is ludicrous.

pay out his contract? no we wont. You only ever have to pay out a contract if a) you delist a player and is still under contract or b) he is traded and you are willing to pay some of his contract if the other club doesnt want to pay the full amount otherwise if traded then a new contract is created.
No way we would trade him and pay some of his contract
Well i meant they would pay it out.

Agreed, but it would be pretty funny if we used that pick 4 to bid for Viney, forcing them to use 3 on him F/S - giving us the real #3 in the draft :)

Boo ******* hoo Chris.

If you play to your potential, like you did 2 years ago, you're a walk up starter.

Play like a chump, then we will shop you to cellar dweller like Melbourne and the Dogs.
Going to tell that to the others who had ordinary seasons? He has every right to be angry having his name thorown around as trade bait especially after sticking by us when he could have walked at the end of last year. He signed at huge unders on top of that!

We pissed Leon off last year and it cost us dearly. Same shit happening with Dawes.

If we bid #4 they match it with their next pick. Not #3. And the father-son bidding process happens before the trade period opens anyway. So there's two ways that this could never happen.

But that's incorrect! He and his management have decided to shop themselves around with permission from the club.

As for signing on for huge under's that is well and truly up for discussion considering he's on roughly 350k and played at the level of a 250k player (ie the league's average wage) throughout 2012. He's now 24 and at best from here on out will play the kind of footy he did in 2010/2011, which was barely worth 350k.

So IMO he's not being paid under's....

Yeah, good point :). Would need GC & GWS to do the bidding for us, which would still mean a possible #3 - if you don't see Viney as a top 3 pick - which I am not sure he is.

There are no other teams.
With the coin Dawes is on I'd rather just keep him. Either to regain form or as just a backup.

If he wants to go & Melb is his destination, then I think a fair trade might be, Dawes for Pick 26 plus a swapping of first round picks, 17 & 13.
