Melbourne will get both Dawes and Wellingham.
Well that's a real win for them and happy to see them move in the right direction finally.

Will be interesting to see what we would get in return, players certainly don't interest me......Another Woewodin or Buckley maybe, what about Pettered...he can't make the Dees team so surely we can find a spot....*rolls eyes............I would want some seriously good draft picks from Dees for these 2 guys.

My heart is telling me that if Wellers doesnt go home (WA) then he'll still be with us.

Wellingham + Dawes + Pick 18 for Pick 4 (Melbourne)

Considering you guys need to free up cap space, apparently, I'd say it would be positive both sides.
You dickhead.....Did you even look at what you posted!

So Dawes's manager as of an hour ago hadn't met with Melbourne, now all of a sudden the rumour is Martin for Dawes? i call bullshit.. they've just put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5. Amateurs..

That's a facebook rumour nothing more.

If I were to rate the accuracy of sources over the next few weeks I'd have the AFL media, followed by Bigfooty, then trade week radio and then bringing up the rear facebook pages and twitter accounts which feed off the rest.

I may be wrong but I think that the only way we would be required to pay some of Dawes contract if he was to leave is if the new contract is less than the original, in which case we would need to pay the difference.

As Dawes signed for unders with us last year I doubt if he leaves we would need to pay anything.

Line Ball between Trade Week Radio and Facebook pages

I would also assume that if we were to get a trade for both players it would likely be pick 14 and a player. Just have to hope it isn't Martin.

Going to tell that to the others who had ordinary seasons? He has every right to be angry having his name thorown around as trade bait especially after sticking by us when he could have walked at the end of last year. He signed at huge unders on top of that!

We pissed Leon off last year and it cost us dearly. Same shit happening with Dawes.
Leon Davis has more talent in his left nutsack than Dawes has in his whole body.

The comments about Dawes say a lot about how one eyed Pies fans are. I'm happy that a team is willing to trade anything for Dawes. I've said it before but KPF's that can't mark overhead are all but worthless. Dawes overhead marking has regressed every year he's been in the league. It's perhaps their primary required skill. Unless they can make up for it in other areas, such as exceptional speed/agility etc. Dawes has none of that. Take whatever the hell you can for him, because IMO his value isn't going to increase any in the coming years, if he's even still on an AFL list.

Even if we kept him, we should be doing everything in our power to find and develop a replacement.

I don't see them getting both.

Dawes is seeking opportunities. So he will likely to go almost anywhere except interstate.

Wellingham was either WA or Collingwood. It's not about opportunity for him, he was testing the market for $$$. Now that the WA clubs have gone cold, sure Melbourne could come in with the $$$$ but Sharrod and his management have stated they want to remain part of some success. It would be a career step backwards for Sharrod to the Dees.

He will stay now IMO.

Don't be fooled EVERYONE has a price

But that's incorrect! He and his management have decided to shop themselves around with permission from the club.

As for signing on for huge under's that is well and truly up for discussion considering he's on roughly 350k and played at the level of a 250k player (ie the league's average wage) throughout 2012. He's now 24 and at best from here on out will play the kind of footy he did in 2010/2011, which was barely worth 350k.

So IMO he's not being paid under's....

Is it? Couple of days ago his name was thrown around as potential trade bait for Tippet!

Discussion? About what? The club and Dawes both admitted he stayed a Pie after turning down a huge offer from Melbourne last year.

Why did the club let Leon leave then? He was pissed at the club thats why, same as Dawes.

So you happy to get Lynch who will play 2nd ruck/forward and lose Dawes? We will be worse off than before we got Lynch who turns 30 in January!

Lol yeh Dawes is worthless, thats why clubs are lining up to discuss his future within an hour of the announcement. He was instrumental in our 2010 flag win and given the opportunity he will come good. Who the f**k sells stock when its at it lowest?

One thing for sure is we sure as hell know how to piss our own people off.

It's more the positive remark......I'll personally track down any idiot who makes this decision and drop him.

In case many havent noticed, we are in our premiership window now.........we have 2 quality known players in Dawes and Wellers who you think we're willing to part with + our 1st round draft pick for pick 4......Can anybody on here remember what # draft pick Beams was.....Hmmmm.....anyone!

We don't have an issue with in unearthing quality picks late 1st round or beyond......Pick 4 is only of value if it helps get Tippett and to me that's not realistic.....

Premiership Window = Identify Weakness & recruit to mitigate that weakness

Shit Clubs = Low draft picks, potential superstars recruit for future.....

**** Pick# 4

Be very disappointed if Dawesy leaves. Yeah he had a pretty poor year I would have expected him to have a big preseason and bounce back next year as a forward only.

Some of the comments on here are disgraceful but I guess Clokeys signed so its time to turn on someone else.

Nonsense.

Take on the challenge you puss cake, dont run away from it. So what if we brought in another big man, are you that mentally soft that you would walk away from your mates, the club and potential success to join Melbourne?

As i said, if he plays to the level we know he can, he stays in the team. Instead, he is taking it out on the club and 'exploring' other avenues because he was linked to deals based on a horrid season.

Yes, he signed for unders at a time when he was worth more. On his current form, he isn't worth the 'unders' contract he signed.

Peter Hore is more predictable than some on here.

Who gives a crap about trading for better picks? We needed a forward/ruck and secured Lynch. Job done. It has now turned into a feeding frenzy.

So Dawes feels threatened by a guy going on 30 years of age when he is 6 years younger? WTF? If he is pissed at the club for feeling like he might have to compete for his spot with a guy who only has 2 years left in him, then it says a bit about why the club would be happy to let Dawes go.

I agree, how many top 10 picks have the Swans or Cats had in recent years?

But having said that, Dawes isn't a massive loss, and either is Sharrod, but it's more the loss of two reliable top 22 players added together that provides the problem short term, even if we have Lynch to cover Dawes.

Yes a horid season being played out of position because the club failed to secure a replacement for Leigh Brown. Dawes knows he is capable of much better but the role the club forced him to play didnt allow that. Now he gets shopped around for being unable to play a role which he is not suited to? Fair? Dont think so.

As I'm not privvy to the information tabled during the meeting between Bucks and Dawes, I'm going to have to make the assumption that Dawes isn't running away from the challenge, but has been informed that his best course may be to seek employment elsewhere i.e. "Chris, we've got the Q stick and we're going hard at Tippet, if we can sort out a deal for him you won't be doing much time in the firsts. Would you prefer a Vic based club or will interstate be ok"

Well if we signed Lynch, can't he play the ruck/forward role with Dawes going back to his favored forward position?

This is what i can't understand.

He is entertaining the idea of leaving because we brought in another versatile tall, though its essentially the same setup that saw not only Chris have his best year, but the club go all the way to glory.

Im fine to let Dawes off somewhat for his poor year, he was played out of position, but won't next season he have more of an opportunity to play forward?

If its a case of him being offended because he was linked to a couple deals, well harden up, Chris.

he cracked it cause we brought in someone else. Shouldnt people fight for their spots instead of thinking you got a spot secured

Sounds like Jack Anthony. Same deal, he left for better opportunities, and look what happened to him.
Chris Dawes could get us a good deal, I'm for letting him go. Jack Paine is coming along nicely, and is still very young. Huge upside. We can cover Dawes leaving, and who knows, it may gives us the chance at landing either a big fish, or a super talented kid.

Dees get Dawes and Wellingham.

In return we get pick 13, kiss my dick, kiss Bucks' arse, give back the home gate on QB and throw in 46 life season passes for all our players on our list for that year at Mount Botha.
