If Wellingham and Dawes decide to stay then fine. But if they want to look at greener pastures then this is what may transpire.

Wellingham - West Coast are luke warm on him they will not pay him his asking price, freo have gone cold becuase they have signed Pearce. If Wellingham decides to go West Coast then he'll have to accept the same offer collingwood have offered which is around 300k each year for three years.Welligham was asking 450k per year for 4 years. He won't get that at west coast,he may at Melbourne though. Collingwood will definately ask for a player and west coasts first round pick pick 17. and Koby Stevens. Collingwood may have to throw in a 3rd round pick to satisfy west Coast.

So if wellers leaves we get Koby Stevens plus pick 17 on trade pick 17 to GWS for Giles.

Dawes is a different proposition. He is contracted for the next 2 years. Now Bulldogs and Melbourne are very intersted in himso we could quite aesily get say as an example from Melbourne.....Their first round pick plus Stefan MARTIN if collingwood played hard.Remember ball is our court for negotiating cos Dawes is a contracted player so if we don't get a good deal he stays. So from Melbourne or Bulldogs at mimimun we could get their first round picks which we can on trade to
Gold caost for caddy or pick a gun in this years darft which is meant to be brimming with talent

So in the end say we lose both wellingham and Dawes we get Koby Stevens,Giles and Caddy. That's a good deal
What you have said about Wellingham is spot on. Although the "media" are reporting they have gone cold....let's wait and see on that one.

Dawes on the other hand o_O if you think Melbourne or Footscray are going to give us any of picks 3/4/13 or 5/6....you are kidding. It is beyond beggars belief how many people on this board have hammered Dawes all year (yes he had a shocker of a season) but expect to get a first rounder for him. NO CHANCE!

Walker is a gun. Would have been great if he was on the move.
It's funny how 12 months can change peoples opinion and value of a player.
Walker was a spud 12 months ago, drinking piss at a port game.

Dawes was playing well last year and rated highly....now he's the spud apparently.
Dawes can turn it around....I believe!

If we were to lose both Sharrod and Dawesy then I would be all for us having a dip at Tippett.
Although I think it is unlikely and we should aim to keep both players. Especially Dawes, considering the whole reason Lynch will be in the side is for the Leroy Brown Role (thats the assumption anyway)...

Dont get me wrong though. Cloke + Tippett would be an exciting prospect.

Yeah, exactly. Everyone would be cracking the sh1ts and getting all offensive if it was the other way around and someone posted that we needed to give up a first rounder for someone of Dawes' "ability". People struggle to see things objectively.

Thing is what you must understand is yes we can get a first round pick if Dawes is moved on.Why?Cos he is a contracted player not a free agent,if we don't get the deal we want he stays simple as that.Melbouirne and Bulldogs are desperate for a kpp.Kpp's are worth their weight in gold, not many around .We are not desperate to trade off dawes,he is looking at his options,if melb or bulldogs want him they must give up siomething very good otherwise no trade.

In fact media reports are saying that pick 4 plus stefan martin has been offered to collingwood from melb for Dawes and Wellinghamso far.We need to know what these two are going to do igf thtey wantr to go they go we trade if not they stay.
we are prime position at the moment.

Both Wellingham and Dawes will stay in my opinion. I don't think there's any thing in the stories other than the media blowing up another story because it's Collingwood.

Now if only we can find someone to play a neon type role off half back I'll be happy.

Muppet logic.
He is only worth what clubs offer us and I highly doubt it will be a 1st rounder.

The second part about pick 4....was not offered up....it was a scenario made up by Terry Wallace! o_O

I'm starting to honestly think this could be the club saying to Dawes that we don't require him anymore, but instead of saying that to the media/other clubs (and making his trade value 0) we are making it look like he himself is leaving for opportunity elsewhere. It gets us a better trade, gets him a bigger deal and pay cheque and it cuts him off our payroll. Win for both parties.

But with that said, there's surely no way that we're already going to put faith in Paine (or someone like Keefe who arguably isn't a forward) to fill his role and thus exclude potential depth for one or two roles. Paine has hardly proven to make a proper impact and hold his spot... yet. We must surely have a Dawes replacement up our sleeves?

Tippett! Come on down! ;)

P.S Gee it would be weird on this forum if Fevola was still a potential target!

Gerard Healy also said pick 4 was on offer, his brother is apparently on the Melbourne board so i guess he would possibly have some inside info but then again we have heard stories before that havent panned out.
