Maybe a Tim Membrey, Ben Kennedy, Nick Vlastuin, Kristian Jaksch or a Tom Clurey.

i would blow my load if we got Kennedy. He is wicked. Will be a small fwd at 1st and he is good around goals.

Wellingham is worth more than #38 easily, but may be pushing it for #17.

Are you guys into Stevens, because #38 and Stevens may be thereabouts?
Not interested in Stevens unless we can package him up and move him on for something better. Even with him, 38 is too high a draft pick

Sounds reasonable, who do you like?

love Garlett to slide - great for run and spread - would also like another player like this or an inside mid (Wines...but he wont slide)

wondering if we are thinking of getting any KPD (Clurey) or KPF (Jaksch/Shaw)...why we passed on Stewart(?)

If we somehow wrangled P4 and grabbed Mayes i'd pass out

He isn't yet a KPF yet. Needs time to develop and learn how to use his body. More of a tall athletic wingman. Darcy Moore is the one that the Pies are looking forward to having on the list. Might not be room for all of Stewart, gault, Ceglar, witts, Moore and Paine on the list

I've seen this mentioned a few times by posters over the past few days and I just wanted to clear it up. You cannot on trade a player! Once a player has been traded to your club he is yours, end of story.

It's kinda semantics though. If the Eagles want to give us Stevens, and we don't want him, we just get them to send him somewhere he is wanted and on-trade us the pick. Same net result.

Your right, but this rule hasn't just popped up on us so is it really that difficult to stick to what is accurate? FWIW in the end if we trade Dawes it isn't the same result because we'd be unlikely to use the second pick in the deal.

I don't think the club wants to turn the list over much this year so we're likely to go to the draft with 3 live picks and two upgraded rookies.

Let's say that pick for Stevens is the Bulldogs 28 so the deal for Wellingham finishes as 28 and 39 and we get 14 (Goddard compo pushes it back) for Dawes. We then have picks 14, 19, 28, 39 and 40 with 3 live selections and the two upgraded rookies.

It theoretically means we get just 28 for Wellingham which is the exact price WCE got for Stevens so IMO well unders and we then waste two top 40 picks on rookie upgrades.

The only way it works is if we sacrifice upgrading one of Mooney and Williams in order to have 4 live picks and then trade out the two top 40 picks for one in the low 30's ie go to Essendon and trade them 39 and 40 in exchange for 32.

Who is Stewart?

Very reliable source from the Swans that the Tippett deal to Sydney is less likely than likely to happen. That's all I will reveal.

Sorry to intrude but all I can say to this info thank f***.

Mini-draft talks have slowed up a bit. The Dogs-GWS-Richmond trade won't happen. Coll, Melb, Dogs & possibly Geelong all keen for a pick

Intresting maybe we want 1st rounds for wellers and dawes to have a go in the mini draft?

I am pretty sure that is what she Means. Article in the Age said we would use Pick 4 to get in the Mini Draft

The mini draft is for 17 year olds isn't it? Surely they are even more of a unknown quantity than the 18 year olds :\

Also they are at least a year away from AFL action. Surely we need something for now...

Unless of course there is a guaranteed superstar in it.

UPDATE: 7/10/12 – MELBOURNE is likely to snare Collingwood’s Chris Dawes with pick 13 as early as Tuesday as negotiations between the two camps ramped up yesterday.
The Dees had also been in discussions to get Sharrod Wellingham and in a double deal with Dawes for pick four, but Wellingham wants to return to WA and join West Coast.
West Coast will offer its first round selection – pick 17 – for Wellingham.
Jack Viney will become a Melbourne player under the father-son rule tomorrow after the father-son bidding meeting. The Suns are expected to push Melbourne to use pick three on the tough inside midfielder.

I wonder if its possible for us to convince Wellers to go to Melbourne in the Dawes deal to snaffle pick 4. If they offer him overs and the chance to play alongside Dawes under Neeld and have his old mate Leigh Brown there as well he may consider it. The dees would look ok with Mitch Clarke, Dawes and Wellers putting it down there throats straight out of the centre square!

I don't want a mini draft pick, he wont even be able to play until 2014 and for 2013 we will be short 2 premiership players with only young players with hardly any experience playing.

I want another flag, we don't need to go down the youth part while our premiership window is still open.

Wow we could do some serious damage with picks 13, 17 and 18. Would that be all of Hine's christmas' at once?

I still think Martin will be part of that Trade

They aren't an unknown quantity at the very top end that these kids are. We're talking getting the likes of D Swallow, Whitfield, O'Meara, Cameron, Patton, Shiel and Bennell a year before they can be drafted. We can then put a year of development into them before anyone from there draft year is aligned to a club.

Don't know if it's a great move for us in a premiership window, however if we snared Hogan for the loss of Dawes and our current 1st round pick I'd be one happy camper.
