I agreed with you that Wellingham can be had, but not for Martin.

25 yrs old and isn't even a walk up start for Melbourne.
i agree also, hes not worth a straight swap....wellingham has good currency. secondly i dont think he would leave for melb i reckon he would go home to WA .

Dees would need to add something else

Sorry i am not very familiar with May infact this it the first time i have ever heard his name.

EDIT: just looked him up and he is only 190cm that is smaller than Dawes.

He plays tall though.

Just looking at Darling, Fev and Pavlich you would swear they're all Clokey's size. However they're all the same height as Pendles, some blokes just play bigger. May is one of these. His dukes on the lead are as good as Fev's in his prime he just runs full pelt at the ball throws them up and they stick. He's got a Lucas style left boot on him as well, which makes him dangerous from anywhere within 60.

At 190cm he's 4cm taller than Brereton, 1cm shorter than Lockett, 2cm taller than Dunstall and and 2cm shorter than Lloyd IMO it definitely isn't a limitation.

He could be such a dangerous acquisition (price dependent) and just one example of an abundance of options out there. Another would be Ben Griffiths. The Tiges would be extremely hesitant to give him up plus he's had injury concerns, but the kid is a serious talent and at 198cm is more than capable of giving us something extra. FWIW I know he's spent most of his time down back so far, but I believe he's ideally suited to fitting in forward of centre.

Quicky something worth bearing in mind that stat re Dawes ruckwork is that it had parameters. However the essence of it from memory was that for all players league wide that had rucked in 50+ centre bounces he was the number one ranked player based on percentage of times the ball is cleared their by either himself or his teamates....

It was 40. It's an interesting stat though.

Heard yesterday on radio and again via 3rd party related to Sharod that he may be swapped to Hawthorn for Shane 'randy' Savage.. Considering sharod and buddy are lovers, bumchums etc they can finally play and train together.
Happy to take Savage. tough kid and courageous.
We all know that Sharrod has had an ordinary finish to the season since his hit on the carlton lad. He mite be heading back to W.A..

If it would be a lower wage for our salary cap im all for it. Although I must admit I wouldn't be that fussed either way whether we do the trade or not I don't see many positives or negatives either way.

So if say Melbourne rang us up during trade week or whatever and said hey we will give you stef martin and a 4th round pick for Sharrod Wellingham

you would reply with...?

we need so much help in the forward/ruck role its not even funny.

Thanks but no thanks.

Not interested whatsoever.

Wellingham has more currency than that. Martin alone is worth a 3rd rounder at best.

I know it is just a rumor at this stage, but I dont get why so many people on this board are quick to get rid of Wellingham. Sure he might not be reaching his potential, but he would have to be the best "depth" midfielder going around.

I want to keep him, could be salary cap related though ala Leon.

Wellingham for savage is a great trade. FOR HAWTHORN
Savage has been playing for Box Hill most of the year for goodness sake.
All that trade does is make us weaker & the Hawks stronger.
We would be asking more than Savage if we were prepared to trade Wellingham.

There's no way Collingwood would do this trade, as Frizzle points out it makes the Hawks stronger, and that is something no one wants to do unless you are getting something great in return.

Oh, and wasn't there a rumour only a week ago saying Sharrod was going home to WA?

I think there's more chance of him playing for Fremantle than there is of him playing for Hawthorn, ever.

So you think its a win to trade a premeriship star for a kid that played half the year in the reserves? Am I missing something here?

why on earth would the clubs be negotiating trading players with each other in the middle of competing in a final series, sounds like rubbish and a bad trade anyway

Don't like the trade idea.

If we are trading Wellingham we need to ensure that two objectives are met:
1. It free up more cash for Cloke/Harry O/ Krakouer and other players that still need to be re-signed.
2. We strengthen a position of need.

Swapping Wellingham for Savage might acheive objective 1 but not objective 2.

Our first priority (after re-signing Cloke and the other out of contract required players) is to get a ruckman to play the Leigh Brown role or take over Jolly as number 1 ruck. Then we need to find a small defender who can be our designated kicker.

If Hawthorn want Wellingham, I would request Max Bailey or Matt Suckling.

yep, you are missing the crack that is being consumed on BF

Makes zero sense..
If Wellingham was on the trade table, it would be for a 2nd Ruck/fwd..

Savage showed against us he can play good footy but is not the type of player we require..

Disagree I reckon we do need some Quick Players who are Good Descion Makers which Savage is

I'd Say if you made that 4th Round Pick your 2nd Rd Pick then it's a Done Deal but we can negotiate on it
