In terms of realistic possibilities, McKenzie is the one kid I'd want from Gold Coast. Not that I wouldn't take others, but McKenzie would be my number 1.

That's taking out players we'd have no chance of getting like a Bennell, Ablett, Matera etc.

not at all... all that the rumour said was caddy WANTS to go to collingwood.. it says nothing about collingwood seriouslly going after him. Im sure collingwood has enquired about him, as nearly every team would of.

Caddy said he wanted to go to essendon 12 months ago as thats who he grew up supporting.. not sure why that would change 12 months later?
You are Correct about that collingwood about Chasing Him but we would have had to Talk with Caddy though about Joining us and we would have Plans of Trying to get him in a Trade.

It might not Happen and Hey the Story been Reported has not Been Confirmed by Anyone yet

Boys if a player nominates a preferred destination they do it with the full knowledge that the club actually wants the player. Situations like luke ball, nick stevens, jack gunston just to name a few, they all nominate a club because they've obviously had discussions with that club.
It would be ridiculous if caddy came out and said i want to come to collingwood and collingwood then said well we dont want you, just doesnt happen in this day and age.
Collingwood recruiters were very keen on caddy as a junior.

Well someone said on Draft Trade Board that Geelong is also a Club he liked to go but I think that he might of Settled on us now and they would be a Back Up Plan if a Trade Talks go No Where

Hi all, pardon the intrusion.

What would you realistically be happy trading for Caddy? First pick and a player? If so, which player?

Thanks :thumbsu:

Well Somthing like 1st Rounder + Wellingham

Rumour that Carlscum have developed some scruples.

Guarantee no one can find corroborating evidence.
Obviously someone having a troll.

Wellingham will not be offloaded. He wants to stay and the club is close to securing him on a 3yr deal.

Every year it seems his name keeps coming up on this board as trade bait but he is very much a required player.

Nah, I wouldn't give Wellingham and a 1st rounder for him. Wellingham is no dud and he is still very young. The only reason I am using Wellingham as a player to trade is becuase we have players that can play his position so he wont be much of a loss, will be a loss but not big.

The best I can think of if we did a swap between the two clubs and no third club would be Wellingham and 2nd rounder to the GC for Caddy and 3rd Rounder. It will mean we go down 3-5 picks in the draft the difference but they get an earlier pick which is what they want as a developing team.

I think that would a pretty good deal actually for both parties and seems realistic.

I think Wellingham will be a big loss which is why the club wants to retain him for a further 3 years and he wants to stay too as he is settled.

When you think about it, he offers our midfield mix something different. Not only is he capable of breaking away at top pace from congestion he is as hard as they come. He has a very balanced inside/outside game.

I noticed a very different midfield mix vs the Eagles where finally Wellingham was used as he should have been all season- as a midfield rotator at stoppages. He spent very little time in attack. His tackling pressure and hardness was just super at the ball and man.He is also a super overhead mark of the footy and his leg speed is something we don't have a lot of- Daisy Thomas aside.

He is a very important cog as part of our midfield mix where these days you need to have a good 10 players capable of going through the middle and of different variety. It is what makes our midfield strong and with depth- guys like Wellingham.

He is a keeper and not trade bait.

Well Caddy is a top 10 Picks from 2 Years ago so you need to give up a Bit

Wellingham is a player they may be interested in. I get the feeling he is somewhat underrated by many.

That being said, they have turned down Essendons supposed offer of 2nd round pick and a mature bodied player. Not to compare Wellingham to whoever the Don's offered up, but that paradigm doesn't appear to be high on the Suns wish list. My thoughts are they are looking for a first round pick at the very least.

To spelling police.... I am a technical writer by profession but even I make mistakes. One thing I am not is a very fast, good typist and sometimes if the topic makes me emotional, I make some really silly mistakes in my haste to type my message. Depending on how I feel, I might correct or not.

Scott Clayton is still very keen on Josh Thomas.

Well Considering Thomas and Caddy are Simmlar Players then he could be part of the Trade

Lol wellingham is defiantly on the trade table for the right player how is he a required player? we have more than enough cover if we trade him.
we have enough to cover now but dids and swan will finish up shortly so depth wont be huge. we could just be suring up our stocks for the future.

The only player I'd be interested in for swap would be Goldsack, IMO. But even then it's a bit scratchy.

If the Suns were to deal with the Pies, it's of my belief that their first port of call would be to work out a 3-way with the Crows. So Pies give Adelaide something when getting Caddy, and the Suns land Tippett.

Something like that, anyway.

Wellingham has so much potential, I wouldn't be trading him at 'current' value that is for sure. He has been threatening to have a break out season for a while now and has plenty of time left to have it...
