I don't think Wellingham is a required player, for the right price. He is nothing special and making salary cap room for Cloke is more important. I would not want to lose Goldsack to make cap room for Cloke, thats if we need to make cap room.

Bollox. I agreed totally with DaVe86, that Wellingham's a required player, unless he wants to fly the coop. Do you disagree?

averages around 20 disposals a game and 0.6 goals in a team that gets a lot of the footy and kicks a lot of goals.

To me he is clearly not required, you don't need a "fast" midfield to win premierships (aka geelong/hawthorn) you simply need a consistant one that is very skilled. Wellingham is inconsistant and normally only kicks goals against bad teams (2 against port/dees, 1 against the lions/doggies/suns) the only time his impacted the scoreboard against a quality team was against hawthorn when he got 2.

He can't tag and i dont think he applies any amazing pressure... his one we can def afford to lose imo.
I think our required players are jolly cloke pendlebury swan reid brown/keefe beams. Anyone else can be traded without hurting us (assuming we get a fair trade)

we're contesting the premiership next year, yeah? trying to beat the likes of hawthorn? lets not willingly trade best 22 players out during our window unless absolutely necessary. think about draft picks for players when we start rebuilding the list at the relevant stage, but we need as many capable players on the field as possible right now.

Cloke's face is the first thing you see when you open the collingwood website. As I read the tea-leaves that's a pretty good sign that negotiations are going nicely

Cloke's image disappeared when negotiations seemed to be tense. Now he is back on the website when things appear to be going better. That is the sum total of my conclusions given how media savvy collingwood is in this day and age - I would doubt that this is an accident.
(I'm the first to say that this is a tenuous link, hence a rumour thread)

It'll be a rude shock to BEEG who seems to follow the mantra that no-one will leave Collingwood. But yes, in the bigger sceme of things, it's not.
