Sun are reporting that we are confident Cloke will sign in the next week and also if he doesn't sign we are preparing to go after Goddard.

Would it be so bad?
Out Cloke, Wellingham, O'brien?.
In Goddard,(Pederson/Martin/Giles),Caddy,Pearce,keep Goldsack,
Depends ofcourse on how much Goddard wants.
Just remeber how many games we won whilst Cloke was struggling.
We failed this year simply because we didnt move the ball fast enough and clean enough to our forwards.
To many times we kicked it high n hopefull.

Just a thought

We can not go all the way without Cloke

Out - Tarrant Wellingham Wood
In - Pederson/Martin Caddy Pearce

Would love this

Pedersen makes heaps of sense can play ruck KPD and KPF what person on our list can do that?

He's 193cm same height as Maxwell (so poor 2nd ruck option) and hasn't played fwd or back consistently well or he'd be getting a game at Nth because he hasn't been injured.

Where as a Martin is more agile can take a big mark and is 198cm same height as Jolly/Ottens, is capable of playing 1st ruck if needed but can also play fwd or def.

I don't get the obsession with having a role player who will give not much in way of winning a contest but will compete, give me the bloke who actually wins the footy over a bloke try's hard but can't touch it.

We have enough role players and NQR as it is.

Agree with you, would take all 4 mentioned in a hearbeat.
But we may not have a choice in the matter .
The 4 you mention in with Cloke we get very close to window wide open.
With Goddard we get a multiple posistion player, and i with a ball moving quickly and accurately to the forwards Dawes/Martin/Paine/Goddard/ i believe it will work, it did at Carlton before the injuries kicked in,and
it did at North (yes they do have Petrie) .
Also it doesnt make us so reliant on 1 player.

Yeah couldn't agree more...

We desperately need a Leigh Brown replacement and slot Dawes back into the forward line to get some rhythm and give Cloke (hopefully staying)some relief from the attention. We also need some speed off the back line and some more precise kicking. I love Harry O but my heart goes into my mouth every time he gets his hands on the ball.

I don't know why the club would look to get rid of O'Brien or Brown and I cannot see either of them really wanting to leave (unless cash is the cause - N Brown maybe, Harry O doubt it).

As to the Cloke rumors, I heard a few months ago 5 years was always on the table, it was just heavily backed in with injury and performance clauses that the Cloke camp were unhappy about and that is what caused the talks to break down, (reliable source cannot disclose). The fact the talks are back on leads me to believe that they have either taken an easier approach on the injury / performance clauses or the Cloke camp have softened so that Trav can be a 1 club player.

SEN reported the other day that Carlton have offered 1mil over 5 with the payment being heavily loaded at the front of the contract whereas the pies are the reverse. D Cloke wants Trav to take the Carlton deal (prick) but Trav wants to stay a pie.

I honestly do not know much more than what I posted. I don't know anything of Collingwood's strategy/plans for trade week 2012, nor do I know much about North's.

I should add that in my own opinion, Pederson is actually not that good a player. Posters on the North board jizz over him and lament that he didn't play more seniors this season but, for mine, at AFL level, he isn't strong enough for KPF, doesn't know how to play KPD, and isn't a ruckman's bumhole. But I said the same things about Leigh Brown and he is now wearing a premiership medallion and the Pies looked lost without him so wtf would I know.

The fact that North are prepared to take a pick upgrade for him, though, and given how much Collingwood need somebody of his type, it seems NMFC are well aware of his limitations, too.
........... do not want another NQR.

Leigh Brown was only 193cm. It's more about the contest. Pederson has a dip. Although size wise, Martin fits the bill a bit better.

Agree with that. Martin looks much more likely to me, very very mobile and much taller. Q Lynch himself is only 192 but you know he can take a grab and ruck despite his height.

and Leigh Brown for the most part was shit just like Dawes this year, L.Brown should not be a benchmark.

I know what there aiming for and imo they are low balling hence my comment :

Not consistently look at his game vs us in the semi, Martin (or someone of his ilk) has it in him to give you a consistent 4 quarter effort and actually win making our mids more proactive in the centre and also when going forward to him as a target.

whats all this love for pederson? an undersized player who cant establish himself at NM, Martin would be the better option [at least he has the size] but i would prefer to find a pacy midfielder and look to our own in Ceglar, Gault and Witts to provide the second ruck option.

Leigh Brown was the perfect filler for what our team needed. We needed a ruck (we got Jolly), Jolly needs relief we get Brown to fill in. He was aggressive, a gut runner and managed to impose himself in whatever position Mick put him in.

I think everyone has turned on Dawes way too much this year. He has spent the last 3 - 4 years being conditioned into a lead up forward and pack marker and then been given a single preseason to be pushed into a roving ruckman / forward.

When Brown first came to us in 2009 he was slow, unfit and way too top heavy. After 2 seasons he was finally mobile enough to run out a game and contest in all four quarters. Dawes needs a few more preseasons to get conditioned to be more of a runner and could probably benefit from another roving ruckman / backmen or forward to take some of the pressure off him. Unfortunately time is limited for Jolly and he will need to play less game time to make it through a season and the finals if / when we make them. Our future ruckman Witts et al, still need a few years before they can be counted on to make a difference.

We need the football management team to be extremely smart over the next few years if we want to stay in contention and keep our consistent final appearances up.

and Brown was a delisted NM player as well...

just get anything and trade anything out
it is about quantity of deals in big footy
just do anything because it is off season for us and i am bored
give me a spell
the club needs to analyse everything.
The best club in the modern era, geelong has barely traded.....
