Sorry, so let me get this straight...We lose 1st Round pick, Wellingham and Caff and get Caddy, Casboult and Pettered.......****, I'd walk out on the club if we did that.

We're not too badly broken IMO....We need to secure Cloke and look for a back-up ruck/tall utility and we're set. Once injuries subside we have depth with a number of the younger guys getting experience at AFL level this year. You have to remember that if Caff, Krak and Bally were not injured this year then half of the players like Elliot, Seedsman, Paine, Sinclair, Williams, Yagmoor would not of even played a senior game this year.

Re-group, concentrate on our deficiencies, get fit, game plan and dominate 2013.

what do we think of david myers from the bombers, could play a running HBF for us and if im not mistaken has a very BIG/good kick on him.

he has reportedly nocked back essendons new contract and could be gettable with goddard most likely going to essendon, goddard would play his role too and take up alot of essendons salary cap

what is he worth ? what would it take to get him? he is a former #6 pick in the 07 draft

DUnno why but just not a fan of Myers. Reminds me of Simon Buckley in his size and shape and kicking skills...but just makes too many mistakes for a talented player.

That said he came on a bit this year.

Not a rumour, just an idea:

Wellingham, Dawes, Wood for Gysberts, Martin, Cook

Wellingham and Dawes have been linked to Melbourne, while Martin has been linked to Collingwood.
I have read that Gysberts and Cook are out of favour with Mark Neeld and will likely be put up for trade. I think these two could be handy players for Collingwood for now and in the future. Gysberts would be a younger replacement for Wellingham. He is an outstanding tackler and could be the defensive midfielder/tagger with height that we haven't had since Carl Steinfort. Cook is a developing key position forward which I think VFL team needs. We really only have Paine and a platoon of Ceglar/Witts as key forward targets at the moment in the VFL plus there's a good possiblity that Paine will spend even more time in the AFL team next season. Stefan Martin for Dawes is a straight swap in terms of football role and given Melbourne is losing a ruckman, prehaps they could be willing to take on Cam Wood for one year as insurance to Jamar. Mark Neeld has also worked with Wood in the past and may actually like him.

Even if you drop Wood and Cook from the deal, Wellingham + Dawes for Gysberts + Martin is a good basis for a trade. I think it can help our team and also provide some salary cap relief.

Even if you drop Wood and Cook from the deal, Wellingham + Dawes for Gysberts + Martin is a good basis for a trade. I think it can help our team and also provide some salary cap relief.

You are joking right, Peter? You can't be seriously suggesting that two young premiership players who are in the best 22 of the 3rd best team in the comp be equiatble in value to two young players who aren't in the best 22 at the 3rd worst team in the comp.

This is the perfect trade for us. It would give us two first rounders to bring through some highly regarded talent and free up a small amount of salary cap whilst also securing a highly regarded inside mid to replace ball in the future. Personally I think we would have to throw in our second rounder too, if the first rounder from the Eagles you are talking about is their current one (pick17).

Apparently had this to say to Cloke in response to Clokes quip that he would vote for Maxie as Captain again next season (prima facie evidence Cloke would stay).

For me Caddy is nothing special at all. He hasn't proven anything yet and all the hype is solely to do with the fact he was drafted so high. He wouldn't fill a role in our team at the moment and would be a really silly option, imo.

Stefan Martin might be a good pick up, but I don't think we want to give up Wellingham for him. I would however, give up Wellingham for Petterd and Martin. Ricky Petterd has star quality, it just hasn't happened for him yet, but it will.

In the end, i trust Hine and Buckley to make the right decision. I have seen him play a bit, and Ablett spoke glowingly about him earlier this year on the footy show.

But the point is we can win the premiership next year and Wellingham can contribute to that, Caddy wont. I am all for looking to the future through draft picks, but we can't go trading a 25 year old 100 game player for a guy who will hopefully replace Luke Ball one day. If Ball makes the recovery we are all hoping he will, then there will be no game time for him for a year, possibly two.
Pendles is an inside outside player, Beams is inside and outside as well. The problem with both of these guys is not their ability to play inside, but the fact they are not preoccupied with stopping an opponent. With out Ball we have no defensively minded midfielders, and thats what we missed this year. We didn't halve enough contests, we either won it or lost it. Ball helps with that. So too does Wellingham, I'm not sure Caddy would.

When was the last time you a senior player (well any player really) say that a young player on an AFL was going to be anything but a "superstar" or "elite".
