Worth is a bit skewed at this time of year though Mark, if a player fills a particular need and his particular type is rare at the time he'll likely get higher offers than his base worth.

Which i agree with, but i don't see Wellingham as a guy that is a definite 'need' for a rebuilding club who would own a top 10 pick.

Of course, just my opinion, but didnt Brisbane get pick 12 or something from Melbourne for Mitch Clark?

He has more value and is a much bigger need as a ruckmen/KPF type.

Nothing is a certainty of course Mark, I don't see Wellers as a top line swap prospect either but he does represent good proven value and an instant top up for a club seeking an extra versatile mid/forward.

It's an interesting one, Josh Kennedy was traded for a 3rd or 4th round pick, while Shaun Burgoyne garnered 2 first round picks despite there being serious doubts on whether his knee would hold up.

Wellers is nowhere near the class of Burgoyne, but he is young with some scope for improvement and it really depends how keen WCE are, I'd expect a first round pick and maybe a player.

But what availability in those areas is there? If we're going to lose Weller's, I'd prefer to get someone like Caddy for him then a bloke who might rot in the 2's... Caddy is going to be a very good player.

I'd rather get Giles/Smith/Clarke/Hurn/*insert player with pace to burn here* over Caddy.

Do we need Caddy?

We need a ruckman.... A Back flanker with foot skills (I never want to see Shaw or O'Brien kicking in again!!!) and a pacy winger in the mould of Jetta/Rioli/Hill..... Caddy fills none of those needs.

Yes I agree. Damien Barret has said that Zac Clarke wants to return to victoria.......so a possible Wellingham trade for Zac Clarke be a very good trade for us.....(wishful thinking)

I never said he was, I just said we were looking at him and are trying to get him fit. He was never a certainty to join us, I don't think he will but there was interest in him and that's a fact.

Wellers has always been just outside our top line, whether because of lack of midfield opportunity or not with the arrival of Beams and to a lesser extent Sidey this year in the middle it leaves Wellers looking a little excess to requirements unfort.
