You can want to move players like chess pieces but it doesnt work that way. Wellingham either wants Western Australia or he will choose to remain with the Pies. The Age has come up with a trade for him and Dawes to the Demons but Welllingham's manager says its West Coast or nothing. Considering West Coast isnt offering Wellingham anything spectacular, you will find Wellingham will sign a contract with the Pies with an "easy-out" to the West Coast next contract round.

As for "trading" players who haven't played games or have played a handful of games, then it doesnt seem to happen that much. Every year they say some no-name is going to get traded and thenits only a handful of players that get traded and they are usually well know players....sometimes the no-name player gets thrown in to sweeten the bundle.

Most of the time, the no-noname gets dropped off the list or dropped down to the rookie list.

But get excited...

Pies have already stated this morning they'll be doing what's best for the Club, not for Wellingham.

He might want WC, but I doubt he'd knock back 450k at the Dees if he has to stay in Melbourne. If we're offering 300 over 3, that's another half million over the life of the contract. Nothing to sneeze at considering his next offer might not be as large. His asking price in three years may be 250k for a two year deal. I wouldn't be wasting 3 years at minimum wage if I was him and could get another 500k.

So then the Trade done today if They Just do it

Think Mitch Brown is rather average from what I have seen of him, would probably end up battling with his Bro for a game and coming off second best.

The younger Reid on the other hand is a tantalizing prospect, still young, very athletic tall, rangy forward who can take a good grab. However, I see snaring him as virtually impossible and even if so, the price/trade expected by them being ridiculously high.

Pick 4 and 13 for Dawes, Wellingham, and Rounds... Would Melbourne be THAT stupid?

Must be bullshit they cant be that crazy.

Pick 4 would get it done by itself but that would be overs. Teams just dont trade top 5 picks for players who are not elite and all three fall short. I dont even know who Rounds is.

I can understand Melbourne coach making the push to trade their 4 and 13 for Dawes, Wellingham and Rounds.

Basically injects premiership experience, injects young ish players with 5+ years left who can be the core of the leadership group.

Current Melbourne team is in disarray and completely bottomed out in terms of motivation... Getting 3 players who can elevate moral and leadership and key needs will make a huge change immediately.
Your looking at a Melbourne team who will be competitive all game and still have locker room leaders to ease the pain of defeat...

Adds winning culture to the leadership group....
Much better than adding rookies who may spiral out and leave once their contract expires because of the loser culture at the moment...

I would take the offers as legit and Magpies should definitely take advantage....

Don't think there is any chance that Melbourne will trade both picks. I wouldnt be surprised if Stefan Martin is included in the deal

Have any of you been on Twitter or Nick's? Michaelangelo Rucci is stating that he wants to return to Victoria, and play for Collingwood with his brother Ben.

Signed a 5 year contract at the end of last year and is the #1 KPF of the reigning premiership side.

Rucci also said we were going hard at Tippett. He just loves to sell papers, making up junk and attaching Collingwood to it. It would be a magnificent get, but as if. We'd have to offer heaven and earth just for the Swans to even consider possibly looking into it.

Fake account. Fake story. Ignore

Yep, would only be pick 4 for the bundle, not inconceivable from Melbourne's point of view. They'd end with:

Pick 3, Wellingham, Dawes, pick 13 and Viney. Desperately need experienced players to win more games and to fill their 95% cap quota.

We'd have pick 4 and 18. Can see us doing very nicely there.

With any luck we might give up pick 18, Dawes and Wellers (Rounds) for 4 and 13, although admittedly, that's pretty blue sky.

Take it and run. If Wellingham refuses tell him to take his chances in the PSD.
Well if Melbourne offer him more $$ than us he might just take it, regardless of wanting to go home! He will have plenty of time to spend with family over the summer and once his career is over! If Melbourne offer 450K for him and we cant do better deal with WC I rekon he will take it!
