Melbourne saying good progress on Dawes and Pies amenable. Don't know that Dees can use pick 20 they got from GWS as that deal is settled. Pick 2 is gone to Viney and pick 3 won't get it done.

Reading between the lines that may mean Martin and Gysberts style trade for Dawes. Or Wellingham and Dawes (maybe 18 + Martin) for pick 4.

It be Pick 20 + Player for Dawes

If the deal is Gysberts and Martin for Dawes, i dont want.

Picks or nothing.

I would do that trade. Gysberts looks like a Great Young Mid and Martin is a Tall we like

Again, why the need to trade out Dawes for Gysberts + Martin.

Gysberts would be fringe at best at Collingwood (good young talent but hardly broke through in a weak Demon midfield) and Martin is just a sideways trade for Dawes.

Martin is a year older, has played less games (around 50 or so) and hasn't cemented his spot in a side screaming out for talls.

I like Martin, and he is a geniune ruckmans height which is good...but I don't think we gain much by trading Dawes for Martin. It's a nothing trade really. Better the Devil you know.

Melbourne have got pick 20, that will get it done with Dogs having 21 and Carlton not having anything they can use until 33. We want cap relief so we will not be looking at players I wouldn't think.

Wellingham plus 38 for 17 would be the deal I would do for the Eagles. We only really need 3 selections in the draft and we could have 17, 18 and 20, pick up Lynch and Young, and retire/trade/delist Taz, Wood, Rounds, Dawes and Wellers.

As soon as the scum knew about us interested in Young they came out of their shithole wanting him.

Sounds Like they Sure Did. Malthouse does not want anyone to come to us.

Sounds sensible. Personally I'd prefer to give Dawes one more year and see how he goes as the 3rd forward. But if he is on his way out I doubt we can expect anything better than pick 20 or 21.

For pick 20 I'd prefer to keep Dawes.

Why would we add 38 to Weller's when WC have already offered 17 and we knocked it back?

My personal view is that Martin is an upgrade on Dawes for us. He's a utility like Leroy was. You can see from his highlights package that, in addition to having better hands than Dawes, he takes some defensive grabs deep in defence as well as forward.

If we could take Melbourne's pick 20 from today's GWS deal (my understanding is they can't ontrade it, but I hope I'm wrong) and Martin for Dawes, I'd go for that. Add pick 17 for Wellingham and that's not too shabs.

If at the end of the trade/FA period we had picks 17, 18, 20, Lynch, Martin and Young and have lost Wellingham and Dawes I'd not be too disappointed.

The great thing is that the Demons have not given up on taking Wellingham against his preferred destination. If we could wangle Wellingham and Dawes for pick 4, and swap 18 for 20, then we might then have 4, 20, Lynch, Martin and Young.

Reason might be to free up cash. Then go after Young as a FA.
So in effect we lose Dawes but gain Martin Gysberts & Young.

Martin looks more like an upgrade on Dawes. Seemed very agile by the looks of things in that video. Wouldn't be against getting him, it'd free up cap space and we'd get a pick as well out of it.

Also a massive fan of Young, would love to have him across the HBF. He might be soft, but he isn't any worse than a Buckley or Clarke coming out of the backline, and would be the perfect replacement for BJ.

How about Mark Seaby IF we don't end up getting anyone. Would be extremely cheap, and would be an appropriate back up to Jolly. Only 28, so we'd get a couple of years, and would help with the development of Witts and Ceglar.

After playing against Gysberts for most of my juniors and watching him quite closely, he seems to be a ball magnet but lacks speed which is needed in our midfield.

I think there will be this rumour about Sam on BF every year of his lucrative 5 year contract, that starts next season:rolleyes:
