Cale Morton is an absolute bum.

Melbourne's development of talented young kids has been pathetic is the last few years get him in a good team and playing a role and we just might have a gem on our hands

It's hard to reach your potential in a losing culture

I hope we get Clinton Young.

I wonder if they'd use him for the kickouts after we did so badly there this season.

If so, that'd be two holes filled for next year ( Qstick as second ruck being the other)
Plus well have some handy 'recruits' in Luke Ball and Lachie Keefe and perhaps the Caff as well.

I do think Jackson Paine is looking the goods as a powerful marking option up forward so if we do lose Chris Dawes ( which I hope we don't) then we'll be in. Decent position to front the year.

Once again, our biggest Achilles heel will be if Jolly goes down as it doesnt appear we have a highly competitive first ruck replacement still.

Wood ffs mate, get into the forkin' gym and make a decision ( if you're still blessed with a place on our list)

You'd have to think that if the light hasn't gone on for Wood by now, it's never going to happen. :(

Isn't he unrestricted?

Im with Swoop, i think Young would be a massive get.

Well I think he Signed To. Tim Lame got the wrong Word.

I agree with you and swoop this be bigger then the Lynch Get

Agreed Dave.

Would love to have Young on the wing.

I dont know about you chumps, but now that free agency is in, we'll forever be serious players with a good chance of never bottoming out.

Without sounding too arrogant, this must be what a LA Lakers fan feels like.

Im not an expert, but can structural issues like this be hereditary?

Perhaps a more informed poster will have a better answer, but i would be surprised if this were the case.

Not sure how informed I am, but genetics does play a role with virtually every structural aspect of human physiology and development, even down to bone structure, ligaments and tendons etc.

Having said that, in any particular case eg the Menzels, you could not necessarily say that they have some inherited weakness, because for all you know they both may have suffered extreme forces upon their respective ACLs that would have ruptured the strongest ACLs in the land!

So there's probably no way you could know for sure unless an expert assessment had been done on their ACLs and possibly their ligaments in general.

But definitely some families do have rubbery ligaments and others the opposite, so the possibility does exist that's it's something familial.

I take it all back, Pies are a very reasonable club to deal with, good to see common sense was used by both parties to get the Wellingham deal done quickly, win-win.

Please don't associate us with the Lakers! They're the Carlton of the NBA..

We're just misunderstood.

For a challenge, try doing a deal with Ross Lyon or Chris Pelchen.. can be an absolute nightmare.

I just read this on Twitter. Nice work Dave. I'd love to have him at the club. That left hoof of his is lethal!
hopefully we can finally land someone who can kick a goal on the run outside 50...really hope this deal gets done. Will be in a great position entering the draft this year plus the picks we get fot Dawes.

Yeah with Free Agency you reckon Players would love to play for us.

Well Young is 26 so we still could get 4-6 Seasons out of him

You're a mod.

I expect more definite answers going forward.

Please take this on board and include as a development opportunity on your personal evaluations held at year end with the admin team.

In all seriousness though, regardless of any herediatry issues that may occur, an ACL is an ACL.

Whilst he may be a gun, we need to be cautious and assess accordingly, which im sure we will.

Ditto about the 'I'm not an expert' comment. However, as much as I think Menzel is an amazing talent, I think the club should be somewhat cautious. This comes off the back of a comment his brother made when interviewed pre-game/mid-game/post-game (something) during a Geelong game. He basically said the specialist said he was pre-disposed to initial knee weakness due to genetics. From memory he even mentioned his brothers (Troy's) recent injury.

Whilst the specialist expressed confidence Daniel's inherited weakness had been overcome from the repairs, it is something to consider when looking at Troy. Then again he could just be the next Judd/Selwood/Stevie J example of being too cautious.

I dont think it would happen, but would it be possible for him to slip down into the second round?

I'm loving this trade period. By the time it's over, we are going to have Young, Reid, Caddy, Martin, Robertson, Giles and even Fev.

West Coast have declared they'll even throw in Koby Stevens if they haven't offloaded him by the end of the 3rd week. Happy Days!!!
