Josh Toy can't get his heartbeat above 100 bpm. This is Jack Darling type subterfuge if we get him. More likely to get Chris Bryan.

If its for pick 13 its not running defenders are easy to find/get.

and broughton isn't exactly a gun, good okay player
That's not what they were saying about him whilst he was a free spirit up for trade. Now that some other club has snapped him up he is suddenly just ordinary again. Such is life.

If Toy's heartrate couldn't go above 100bpm, he'd have to avoid photos like these:

West is a decent option as a backup, but you don't want to overpay for backups. Pick #21? Laughable.

It's the sort of deal that would undo our good work in this trade period. Fortunately I can't see our list managers being so careless.

West was Highly Rated at start of the Seasons

Dont know why we didnt go after Hamish McIntosh if we wanted another ruck. Cats snag H-Mac with pick 36 and we are left with their scraps in West and Orrenson.

Rather keep Wood than either of the above two. Wood knows he is on the knife edge so hopefully he can play like it.

We can live in hope, I guess.

It's because H-Mac is an injury prone, overrated dud.
I'm not fussed on West either.
Maybe we know of a couple of ruck man out of contract at the end of next year and just waiting until then....rather than hitting the panic button.

I dont think the Cats made a mistake getting him and dumping Orrenson. McIntosh whilst injury prone (alot of it due to bad luck) is amogst the best when fit. He has 3 good years left and would have been the pefect fill in whilst Witts matures (if we decide to go that way).

IF we can get a gun ruckman next year that would be ideal but if not id rather keep Wood than recruit the likes of West or Orrenson.

Now that I would gladly live in hope of [you know, rather than the Wood finally gets it thing....].

Let me guess, you think we shouldn't have ditched Wellingham and Dawes, or picked up Young or Lynch.

Have we done anything right Cassandra?

Wow, I must have overrated West by a fair bit judging by these recent posts here.

I thought he was pretty decent actually. I haven't watched the 2011 GF again properly, but didn't he do some reasonably good stuff for them in that? Guess that was only one game, but I must have only noticed the better bits of him during the year.

It's a slight conundrum - if Jolly goes down bigtime, or in finals, we'd be in very deep shite.
Wood may come up, but he hasn't yet, and I've stopped hoping that he will.

Win a grand final with Wood first ruck - haha, yeah right...

Not confident as some others that Witts and Ceglar are ready yet - they may come on well, but could be very slow to develop, and that's my tip, esp Witts.

I felt we needed a bridging option eg HMac, Hille as cover - but the problem is they'd be playing reserves as injury cover for Jolly and why would they want to do that ( assuming Lynch plays second ruck - resting forward) Also, then they'd be stifling opportunity for Witts/Ceglar.

This whole issue wouldn't exist of course if Wood had have cracked on.

Leaves us a little too vulnerable for my liking.

A) because McIntosh will want to play somewhere where he'll be first ruck- he'll walk straight in at Geelong
B) because McIntosh can't play the second ruck/forward role- he and Goldstein didn't work as a tandem

Out of every option mooted, I'd still personally most prefer Martin- he's in the right age bracket, he can take a mark, and he'd give us the ability to manage Jolly's workload throughout the season.
