Article published in the Hun states an AFL player has been fingered dealing Cocaine to other players!

Too injury prone.... Like him better as a back than forward and we don't really need backs
Hurley was impressive as a forward against Carlton. Jack Watts is probably worth having a look at. He'd probably do better in a different, more successful environment.

If Hurley wants out then we should get him as long as the price is right and we don't have to give up much (if anything at all)

The price wouldn't be right. Hurley would cost a fortune. Injury prone or not, he is very talented, young, versatile and Essendon would drive a hard bargain. He'll probably end up staying where he is anyway, I suspect.

He is injury prone, but maybe his body will stabilise, or whatever it is bodies do when they stop being injured all the time. You'd expect to pay a high price for someone of his quality, maybe discounted because of his injury history and his character. He wouldn't be cheap and probably will stay with Essendon anyway.

just give them brian straun but i cant give our cult hero away to that mob.
its very interesting situation if those players want to leave, riedy can swing forward and back with hurley wile if you get watts as well he can pla fwd, back and wing or just get both.
i wonder if they will move for money or not worry about the cash and go to a team like us?

you cant give essendon picks for hurley cos they wont have any to use from the ban today and i dont think any player essendon try and poach will say yes to play for them now.
hurley and cloke or watts and cloke, what sounds and looks better on paper?
please make your fwd setup or team with hurley or watts in it?

Hurley would likely say to the AFL that he's been treated in humanely etc etc allowing him to leave for free (trade wise) It would just be about him much he'd have to be paid money wise. I'd pay him 450k max

hurley in fwd set up or watts?

If there is a clause on Duty of Care towards the players in their contracts they could terminate the contract on the grounds that the supplements program breached that clause. Particularly given the Peptides were being called Amino Acids and some of them were not approved for human use. It's quiet possible that a number of players could just walk out of Essendon to new clubs. I would think that Bombers will be stripped of their allocated draft picks, but would get to hold any that they trade for.

Given the Bombers have an ASADA axe hanging over their heads and the final report is intended to be completed in November (after the trade period) we should be careful of Bomber players. Wouldn't want to trade in a player that gets a 2 year suspension. It should also drive the price down so I wouldn't be paying more than a 3rd round pick for Gumbleton, and would think a first round pick around 15 to get the job done for Hurley and Carameri.

I'd take Jack Watts if we could invent a surgical technique to remove the scar tissue from his brain after his time at Melbourne. What a shockingly poor development system they must have had over the past few years.

His natural ability deserves a good dose or harden-the-f***-up pills - might be worth a chance if he doesn't cost us too much?

Its going to be interesting to see how all that plays out. They are likely to lose draft picks, but will still be able to sign free agents & trade for picks. I will not be surprised to see them trade in to the draft using their plethora of talls as currency. This can also free up cap space to sign free agents. Thye may make a late play for Daisy.

Whether we are interested in those talls is another thing, I would say GWS is in tho box seat for these guys. Hurley I certainly would be interested in. However I think Bellchambers, Crameri & Gumbleton will be on the trade list before him, with some whispers that Ryder would entertain a return to WA.

All players who've been at Essendon during the 2011-12 period are under a huge cloud, and any club would be taking a huge risk to trade one of them.

I don't think we should see it as an easy opportunity to pick up some talent

This is exactly his problem, also there is talk he as a jnr always played in dominant sides and people question his mental hardness as well as the physical side in that now he is at Melb a poor team he throws in the towel instead of pushing harder.

This then leads to what happens in finals when he gets challenged does he wilter like a pea heart or will he turn the corner?

Watts is an interesting one but no way I'd give up a 1st rounder for him.

Doesn't chase...

Doesn't tackle...

No way Bucks will go anywhere near him.

I am assuming you mean Watts? What if i told you that the issue is between the ears and not for a lack of desire?
What if i told you that as a 19 yr old he has never had a good role model, a coach or a mentor that he could look up to. How would anyone of us go with that sort of uncertainty and scrutiny of being top draft pick.

The talent is there, the desire is there but the heart & head is not. Easy to fix. Change the scenery, culture and provide support and he could be worth the punt.

Watts has enormous talent and I would look at him for sure. The key will be whether Buckley, Hine and Co. can convince themselves if he has the ticker required. That will only come from interviewing him to be convinced.

Gumby I wouldnt touch after seeing what Brown did to him.

Jaksch, Adams and Greene from GWS might be shopped around. Happy with the first 2.

I would consider it on the premise it cost as no more than a 2nd round pick and he wasn't asking allot of money. Would hate to see him come in and be getting paid more than a proven premiership player
