Apparently Clarence have a secret agent keyboard warrior who has recently retired and now has far too much time on his hands at the club who knows who all of us are.:D

Edited for accuracy.

Oh, and none of this is real. We are living in the Matrix.*

How good should one club be allowed to get. I mean if Gilmore and others follow to Clarence I can only see a repeat of the old SWL days where Clarence win premiership after premiership.

Good ground/player culture/coaching staff & smart Board = success

I am fortunate to deal with many clubs so have a bit of an insight and can only say that the Roos are so far ahead of the pack its scary.

If this is the case (In Bold) it will be the death knell of the SWL as it was with the old Statewide league the public and media to a lesser extent will lose interest. It is why 20 plus years ago the AFL brought in the draft and a salary cap to stop the strong teams continually dominating the league.
Is the salary cap being enforced and the clubs books audited by AFL Tasmania?
Are there to many loop holes e.g. players can be paid as development offices etc outside the cap?
Good luck to Clarence for being successful team, however the competition is only as strong as it weakest teams IMHO.

As for having a good ground I do not know how much of that can be put down to the footy club, they were lucky the TCA decided to move there in the mid 80s. I am old enough to remember the old Bellerive it did not even have wire in the Boundary fence along with Queenborough oval it was the worst ground in the old TFL

Russell Robbo - hmm, why would he want to leave Melb?

Akker - surely something should have been announced by now.[/quote]

Glenorchy's got a pretty active facebook page called "Get Aker At Glenorchy" that has been regularly posting updates on their efforts to recruit Akermanis and Robbo.

It says they are not expecting a final answer from Aker until December when he has finalised his media committments for next year and knows how much playing he is able to committ to.

There is also a link to a story in the Mercury the other day quoting Steve Allie from GDFC as saying that Aker is happy with the financial package the club has offered him, but it is all coming down to his media committments.

Looks like the media is clearly Aker's number 1 priority now and any games he plays in tassie will ultimately have to work around his radio and tv gigs back in Melbourne.

The article also says Robbo, like Aker, came down and visited Glenorchy at his own accord. Doubt either of them would waste their time time flying down to Hobart to inspect a suburban Tasmanian football club if they were not at least half entertaining the proposal.

I recently spoke to someone involved with Glenorchy and apparently they never expected to get Laycock but are quitely confident of securing Aker, which is interesting. The club is also apparently going really well financially and their whole strategy in throwing some serious $$$ to land "a big AFL fish" , is that they think its the only way of getting the crowds back to Tassie footy.

All clubs should be looking at getting a marquee player to attract the punters back to footy. Hats off to Glenorchy for trying. Again, why arent AFL Tas trying to help & encourage al clubs to promote the game & get some interest back into the game?Just trying to run the league as an AFL feeder wont work. The league has to have more purpose than developing kids & earning draft fees for Argyle Street. Everytime I read some comment by Wadey, he is so bloody negative, its like he wants clubs to fail!!

no offence mate but you are a bit behind the times.
this has been all over the media since september, and all along it has been reported december is when a decision on akermanis will be made, as that is when he will know his media commitments for 2011.

glenorchy has been backed off-field by some serious sponsors who are diving into their own pockets in an attempt to land aker.

Talking to Blighty today and he told me that he has been told that Errol Bourn will be appointed for another year at Devonport. Players are meeting tonight with the board and they will be told that finacially they are in a bit of trouble. Will AFL Tas help them as much as their compatriots further down the coast. What is it with the handouts that the coastal teams seem to get. A very unfair playing field is starting to appear

Found this article from a mainland newspaper. It would appear Jason is going to play for a few clubs this year.

Hahahahaha, ok keyboard warrior, this thread is called 'rumours' and I posted a 'rumour' that I thought was from a pretty good source seeing the bloke's brother plays for Hobart. What I said were his exact words. But if you need to go to the lengths of making another thread about it to shut me down and make yourself feel better then all the best.

Heard a rumour that the Tigers are in discussions with another ex tiger from the big island and it looks promising, onballer, ex mariner and Devil and played with 2 AFL clubs, has a reputation of being a hard nut too and only young. Could be a big coup if they land this fish, unlike Laycock whom from all reports is as big as a whale and on 1 leg:cool:

I actually heard he was a chance to be rerookied by Richmond anyway. You'd think he'd go to Burnie if he's back here next year

If Burnie pick up any more high profile players who are just coming back for the Northwest coast 'lifestyle' then I might just ring up the tax office & get them to to check out their salary crap:eek: Sorry, I meant salary cap:D
