Lauderdale has ALWAYS been a bogey side of ours, much like Sorell used to be in the SFL.
We also don't play well on our home ground these days, a ground that holds them back to a degree, but I suppose it is what it is.
Thing that is concerning, is that we've had about the driest first half to a year since the 1880's and with a few showers during the week, plus a couple of frosts and a very wet Saturday and the ground is already in sloppy nick.
Also, Lauderdale aren't that bad a team and have improved in recent weeks since they blooded some youngsters because of injury.
Watching sons of "Plover" Gillbee and Brendan Walsh - two 1990 premiership players of ours - lining up for Lauderdale seemed strange.
They won that match because they were far, far too committed for Hobart.
They played good solid wet weather footy and tackled, chased and smothered well whereas Hobart overused the ball, turned it over constantly, blasted away into the forward line willy nilly, constantly kicked it out to the pockets and should've been eight to ten goals behind at quarter time.
Beaten neck and crop with no excuses. This week will be interesting.

Let me make the adjustment

Hobart FC in strife?
 • Won four out of their last six games
 • Still in the top 6
Full credit to Lauderdale as they fully deserved the win on the weekend.

By the way pal if you re-read my last message you will see that I didn't say that Hobart was going that well, I merely pointed out that Hobart didn't look to be in sort of strife that Duff suggested.

has anyone heard anything about any further fallouts at glenorchy?

i know of at least 3 senior players who wont be there next year already, and a handful of others, both seniors and reserves, arent real happy with things at the moment.

reidy must be in the gun.

Speaking to a Glenorchy Senior player today, who pretty much said Reid is gone.
Any news on this out there?

This has been the rumour and talk for at least six week's, that I know off. And since I heard it there form has gone down the gurgler, surely there is still enough quality from last year that can still make them at least a serious threat to make the finals.
Will the President put the Knife into the coach at this point in time? I hear he lost the support the GM months ago. Must admit I am not a fan on the way Reid got the Job in the first place

would reidy need to be pushed or will he jump?

my sources tell me a few of the players are hoping he his gone during the bye weekend for the state game...

So he lost the players, General Manager and this week is a must win against Hobart at Home. If he is going to be sacked it might be best if they do it now. Who would take over short term?
Byron Howard or Stephen Cox

Robbie Devine would be available:D

The only time I''ll be going to Kingston is in a box to the Cemetry.

I went down to the Kingston Sports Centre last week & saw the new ground which is down the hill a bit & behind the KSC. Looks ok, has lights on two grounds (one for juniors I trust), a hill on one side, car parking but no changerooms, clubrooms of grandstand as yet. Does anyone know what else is to be built there & when?

Brace yourself there TACCA...

Hobart announced at the Ladies lunch in the Clyde Smith Stand on Saturday that they will be playing FOUR games at Kingston next season, it was also in the members newsletter this week.

Now, I knew this nearly four weeks ago because a work colleague of mine bobbed up and told me about it.
I didn't mention specifics on here because I just knew if I did, there'd be this whole "Booohooo, Kingpin's puttin' stuff on tha internety thing startin' roomaaaas again" bullshit that usually goes on up there by the usual couple of suspects.
Not only that, but it seemed like I was the only one that knew that a deal had been done (or was close to it), you ALWAYS hear murmours, and I didn't hear a peep out of anyone until a longtime player's dad mentioned something about it the other week, even then I just nodded and said nothing.

Four games at the Twin Ovals' facility in 2011, which you'd figure would be underwritten by AFL Tasmania (seeing as though they were pushing for it), so we can actually make some money, because that would mean four fewer games at the TCA in 2011.
I can understand them playing games down there, it's in our zone, we will NOT get lights at the TCA Ground and we might pick up some extra supporters and members (roughly half of last year's members haven't re-signed for whatever reason).
What's your take on it TACCA?
It might be a good thing in showcasing football to that region, playing under lights at a new facility etc, just as long as the club isn't infiltrated by Kingborough people at board level trying to take over our club and turn us into the Southern Tigers to give Kingborough an armchair ride into the TSL at our expense.
They wouldn't allow that to happen would they? Surely not..

For the life of me I can't understand why there is such a push for night footy in Tasmania. The game at Bellerive against North Hobart was held in Sub Arctic Conditions ( Maybe we could get Football Tasmania to roster a game at Casey next year? . Last year the game at Devonport (Night) was the coldest I have ever been at a football game, even colder than Boyer in the middle of winter at 9.00am. All senior games should start at 1:00pm in the Daylight. F*%#k Night Footy. Footy Tas are trying there hardest to work the Kingborough connection into the Hobart ranks.
As Winston Churchill said "We Shall Never Surrender"

That game at Bellerive last weekend, played in about -2C was as cold as I can remember being at a football game save for the day at Boyer circa 1992 when it was about -8C there in the morning and didn't break zero all day
Those wooden seats around the boundary up there were iced over the entire day!
It was almost as bad as the day it snowed like buggery at the TCA against Glenorchy in 2001 when the ground was inundated on one side - remember that day?
In regard to night matches, I like them, but they've gotta be used sensibly.
It's ludicrous to be rostering night matches in the dead of Winter in Tasmania, because crowds won't go.
Maybe if they started the season earlier, played a few more rounds and finished the season later it might be of some benefit.

I reckon 1:30pm - gotta give us shift workers an extra half hour's kip ;)
I've gotta say, in principal, as much as I hate Kingborough FC with a passion, the idea of playing a few games down there probably isn't a bad thing being that we're zoned to them.
I'm sure the players will appreciate playing on a first-class surface. :thumbsu:
My greatest concern, in all sincerity, is that I don't want to see the same thing happen to the club that happened a few years ago, people pushing their way in, taking over and alienating the already existing people within the club (ie: shitting in our own nest).
Angus Adams was probably the first one to start the rot.
This was the primary reason that that farcical identity thing was able to get through in the first place and let's be blunt here, most of those people we lost over the way that all happened have never come back to Hobart which is sad.

Personally, I hope the boys win all four games down there and yell TIGERS as loud as possible at the pricks.

As per topic in regard to Hobart playing four games in Kingston next season, Click here to read the article in today's Hobart Mercury.

Just on that, I wonder where all these "rumours and innuendo" came from, given that nothing was mentioned on here at all (I purposely kept details off here), and given that I didn't hear a peep about it around the club with the exception of one player's father mentioning it last Sunday.
I wonder if people arced up after it was announced on Saturday
Still, it won't hurt us to get out into the community and put the club out there a bit :thumbsu:

I find this all a bit bewildering.

Seems to me the old ways down there of blame the coach are coming to the fore.

Reidy was the proverbial "s..t on a stick!" down there last year when they were flying until going down in the big one, now all of a sudden there are calls for his head.

Admittedly Glenorchy have lost some key players from last year (Piuselli and Harwood to name just two) but surely it can't all be Reid's fault?!

Last time I looked there were 22 fellas pulling on the guernsey?!

How much of Glenorchy's woes are they responsible for? A fair bit for mine.

I think you will find not everything was rosy even last yr with reidy. the way he came into power - at the expense of micky bowden - caused a bit of fracture in the playing group.

he has his favourites and its causing big problems. will be interesting to see if the win over hobart will just paper over some cracks

More so saying SDog that when hey were flying 12 months ago there didn't seem to be too many calls for his head?

Not so much a rumour anymore... but Budgie with budgie retiring,
do people think this will do much damage to clarence's back to back chances??

Not at all, they said when Dutts retired they would struggle, budgee was just the cherry on top and played the hit up forward role perfectly as he did in the finals last year when needed, the ball movement and delivery to the forwards has been A1 this year and that shouldn't change at all, will just be someone else on the end of it. Still budgee provides a presence and an amount of respect from oppostion that his replacement might not have or get straight away.
