You seem to know a fair bit about the club Bernie, so why isnt Cleaver playing 18 finals and why didnt Wiggins play more under 18 games???

why didin't wiggins play more games and cleaver not being able to play finals when he is easily in their best 18

You guys won't find that out on here. However, I am definitely surprised that Cleaver is not in the team. I rate the kid highly

TSL board going well this morning. It's 9am and people are already posting

Dunno Benny. I do know who coaches the u/18s though. PM me and I'll give you his name. That way, you can ring him and ask him.:thumbsu:

There is a nasty rumour floating aroung the Lauderdale U18's seen. I have been talking to a few boys have said that young Harrison Allanby is set to join his Brother Ben Allanby on the sidelines, Harry has finally had enough of the underage coaching staff and is hanging up the boots, he is second on the goal kicking tally for Lauderdale and will be sorely missed for the boys who next week look to try and get their finals campaign up and going. He will leave quite a big hole in their team that i feel cant be replaced. allanby out = Clarence premiership. Im sure the Ldale coaching staff will be in his ear trying to ressurect this problem.

No need Bernie.

Crusty some would suggest that you need to pull your head in.

Incidentally what makes a successful underage coach?? Is it winning a premiership? Developing players? Or both?

any chance of getting this thread back on track boys ? way too much dribble . lets stick to rumours !

Incorrect, Lauderdale got up by a few goals. Having a look at the result atm, looks like Gleeson was the only one who had an effect from the boys who dropped back. Rainbird kicked one and Riewoldt didn't trouble the scoresheet.
Dudgeon best on according to the results. Lauderdale U18s should be alright too - they have some gun talent coming through the place.

Good effort from Hobart to get up in the U18s as well, the bottom of the table side upsetting Launceston who slipped from 3rd to 6th and face an elimination game next week. A lack of discipline resulting in some free kicks to Hobart (including a 'double goal' late in the match) helping the Tigers to a win.

Looks like AFL Tas are hiring schoolkids to do their webpages if the spelling is anything to go by.

Yeah, it was great to see. The side showed that we are genuine, even if it was too late. We've had our backs to the walls all season, including playing full matches with only 15 and 16 players. It's hard when over half the team seems to change every week.

Care to shed some light on why the points went to Launy then?

Care to shed some light on why the points went to Launy then?
Yes, I only found this out just then when I read your post. Apparently there was an administrative error and the club forgot to apply for a matchday overage clearance, for an overage player (who has played games in U18s frequently, not sure why it is a requirement to reapply?). It doesn't affect us on the ladder, and it doesn't change the fact that it was a great win from the boys.

Hows this for a ripsnorter i heard last night....Jason Akermanis to be playing coach of Glenorchy in 2011!!

Major boost to North West football

AFL Tasmania has significantly increased its investment in football on the state’s North West Coast, with the appointment of two new senior management roles at the Burnie Dockers and Devonport football clubs.
The organisation will replace its current regional management model on the North West Coast with a district management model, similar to that which currently exists in Western Australia.
From October 1, AFL Tasmania’s current North West Regional Manager, Barry Gaby, will move into a new role as General Manager of the Burnie Dockers Football Club.
Later this week, the Devonport Football Club will also advertise a full time position of General Manager.
AFL Tasmania’s General Manager, Scott Wade, says the changes come after close collaboration with the two Wrest Point State League clubs.
“We have been working closely with the President of the Burnie Dockers, Peter Vincent, and Devonport Magpies President, Steve Daley, over the past few months in respect to AFL Tasmania investing in General Manager positions at both clubs,” Wade said.
“The district management model that we will implement at Burnie will be slightly different to what we do at Devonport. The main difference will be that AFL Tasmania will continue to employ Barry Gaby, whereas the new General Manager at Devonport will be employed by the football club.”
Wade emphasised that both employment models will be genuine partnership arrangements between AFL Tasmania and each football club.
“Firstly, the clubs and AFL Tasmania will jointly appoint each General Manager,” Wade said.
“Some time ago the Burnie Dockers and AFL Tasmania agreed that Barry Gaby would be an ideal General Manager for their football club, and therefore this appointment has already been endorsed.
“The Devonport Football Club has a preference to employ its own General Manager, however, the club fully accepts that AFL Tasmania will play a collaborative role in both the appointment process and the ongoing management and development of their General Manager.
“Secondly, AFL Tasmania will invest heavily in both positions.
“Our increased investment in the two North West TSL clubs will far exceed, for the time being, the level of support that we are providing to the other eight TSL clubs.
“AFL Tasmania is committed to the TSL and our increased investment in both North West clubs will enhance our capacity to build two quality and competitive TSL football club environments.
“We will consider further levels of investment in all TSL clubs over the next three years. However, our priority at this point is to support Burnie and Devonport.
“Both these new roles will encompass managing the delivery of AFL Tasmania endorsed game development programs in their respective development zones, and both General Managers will be expected to professionally engage with their feeder clubs and their broader football and business community.”
President of the Burnie Dockers, Peter Vincent, endorsed the move.
“The increased investment by AFL Tasmania in the TSL and specifically in our club, presents an exciting opportunity for the Burnie Dockers, particularly given that Barry Gaby is a quality, respected and experienced full-time football administrator,” Vincent said.
“The appointment of Barry Gaby is an initiative that has been developed to support current club volunteers, to attract new volunteers and supporters to the Burnie Dockers and to raise the bar in every aspect of our club’s business.
“The aim of all 10 TSL clubs should be to work cooperatively with AFL Tasmania to ensure their club is well managed and well structured. It is almost impossible for a TSL club to manage their club and develop the game in their respective development zone while being administered by volunteers. Full time and quality management is the only way to go.”
One of Barry Gaby’s priority tasks, as the new General Manager of the Burnie Dockers Football Club, will be to work with the NTFL and Burnie Sports and Events on the project of teams from the City of Burnie playing in both the TSL and NTFL competitions and based at the West Park Oval.
President of the Devonport Football Club, Steve Daley, believes the full-time appointment is a vital next step for his club.
“I am certain the joint appointment of a quality General Manager for the Devonport Football Club will prove to be one of the most exciting and significant opportunities that our club has been presented with for a very long time,” Daley said.
“I endorse Peter Vincent’s comments; the days of clubs relying solely on volunteers to operate a professional football club is far too difficult. All TSL clubs need quality full time and professional management.
“Our club and AFL Tasmania are committed to ensuring we appoint a highly skilled and motivated person to fill this extremely important position at Devonport . We will work through a professional appointment process that will begin by advertising the position.
“It is my view that the new General Manager of the Devonport Football Club will become a valuable and active contributor to not only the Devonport sporting and business communities but to the wider football community of the North-west coast” Mr Daley said.
“The Devonport Football Club has developed a very healthy relationship with AFL Tasmania and we appreciate what will be a six figure investment by AFL Tasmania in this great Football Club”, he continued.
Mr Wade believes that it is important that AFL Tasmania is proactive in the region, leading numerous discussions with both the Burnie City Council, via Burnie Sports and Events, and the Devonport City Council concerning its long term plans for football on the North West Coast.
“The key priorities are securing support from community leaders to ensure the cities of both Burnie and Devonport will always have teams participating in the TSL competition, and to ensure that the leaders of the various football competitions in the region are cooperating with each other,” Mr Wade said.
“Over the next three months or so I expect that AFL Tasmania will be offering both the Burnie and Devonport football clubs with the opportunity to extend their current TSL licence agreements.
“The opportunity for both Burnie and Devonport to commit to the TSL competition for an additional five year period, until the end of the 2018 football season, is likely to be offered to both clubs.”

Will our Southern clubs get the same type of funding as those up on the coast?

already do, Lauderdale and Hobart have football managers supplied by AFL Tas don't they, or at least that is what I am led to believe:thumbsu:

heard today that it now looks like the southern based reserves is dead in the water because a 2nd club wants to go it alone, Clarence apparently do not want to be part of it. This train wreck of a model AFL tas are overseeing will get worse. Just where will Hobart for example not only get its players from but send the ones to whom don't get picked in the pea brained colts team where a 15 yr olds will play against a 22 yr olds??
Hobart are screwed because AFL Tas are in bed with Kingston telling them they will be in the TSL soon! which is Hobarts recruiting zone;) how many Kingston players have Hobart playing with them now? not as many as Clarence I would suspect with Blighty going there, good work AFL Tas, that is why Hobart couldn't field reserves at times last season, they have no recruiting zone.

If AFL Tas were really honest about the TSL then any club could recruit any player from any region, open slather. Because currently some clubs are massivley disadvantaged recruitment and retention wise and AFL Tas has caused this, not the clubs. No coincidence all of Hobarts recruits this season came from either New Norfolk, Lindisfarne or Hutchins, couldn't get them from their region and Hutchins only a school remember so hardly had them all year any way. This league will be dead in the water within 18 mths due to the incompetent fools from Argyle street. As for the clubs, your guys want to get your heads out of the clouds and work together, divided you fall remember. No one at Hobart FC knows from what I am told what is happening next season, if there is no reserves regional or otherwise they will lose possibly a 3rd of their playing list back to SFL etc and no one will want to play with another Brighton or Triabunna, get belted every week at TSL level. No players means no volunteers you muppets, volunteers keep the sport alive.

No sporting competition in the world underpins its premier league with a junior league, absolute nonsense! I really feel for the coaching staff at Hobart and other clubs with no real ability to plan for the future when it appears so uncertain.

Bit off topic boys but heard a rumour the other day that Aaron Hall the young Hobart Tigers playmaker is looking to switch clubs, he is currently looking for a new home because of the relationship he and the coach heve. Any one heard of any other player movements? I know its early the TSL hasnt even finished but there is always some rumours flying around.

Which is precisely why I'm of the firm opinion that AFL Tasmania and president Baker are in cohorts in trying to eventually move Hobart to the new twin ovals complex at Kingston and eventually merge the two clubs.
Firstly, at a coterie meeting in the Horace Smith Stand during the season it was spoken of and the gathering was told two games at Kingston in 2011.
Then in the media it is announced as four games at Kingston in 2011.
Baker and Wade apparently met with the Kingborough Council during the season about Hobart playing matches on the new oval next season.
No one on Hobart's board, none of the supporters, the players or financial members new anything about it.
I only knew because I had inside info...

Of course, there'll be plenty of flatout denials, there'll be the usual 'deflections' and statements made to stifle debate on the issue such as "any discussion on this issue will distract the players" (bollocks).
There'll be big high-handed, long-winded essays in the club newsletter attempting to hose down any such talk, using emotive words such as 'nonsense' and 'ruubish' and 'trouble-making' etc.
I've been around too long to not be able to see through all the smoke and mirrors.

An attempt was made right at the start of the TSL to merge Hobart with the Sandy Bay Junior FC but this fell apart due to a number of sticking points, namely the relationship between the two clubs was icy and Hobart's membership was adamant that they 1) did not want to be wearing a Sandy Bay uniform, 2) be forced to use any Lions logo after the disastrous Hobart Lions debacle and 3) did not want to have Sandy Bay included in the name of the club.
And that was fair enough too, Sandy Bay is no longer around due to the sheer pig-headedness of it's former president.

I personally do not see Ulverstone being included in the TSL at all, with Devonport especially railing against any such moves.
The former New Norfolk (NNDFC) that played in the TFL is now only a social club arm of the current NNEFC that was formed after a split in the club at the end of 2008 and in all likelihood will never be invited to join.

So, if a Kingborough based club is included this will create a bye which is not ideal, and you have two clubs that are fervently in favour of retaining their colours, jumper and emblem and both want to be in the TSL.
Hobart's recruiting area is in the Kingborough region, Hobart cannot get guarantees that their home ground (TCA Ground) will be renovated to a decent standard by the Council - Kingborough's new ground is an excellent new facility allegedly.
At the 2009 AGM, president Baker stated to the members that if the Hobart City Council would not come to the party and renovate what is an antiquated and run-down stadium then he would look at pulling the club out of the city altogether.

Problem is, Hobart and Kingborough Tigers supporters hate each others guts with a passion and I can tell you right now, just about all the remaining supporters Hobart have left will walk away if Kingborough's involved.
You can bank on it. :thumbsu:

I can't say I've heard that one, no. Seems to get on alright with Brer from what I've noticed and is well liked around the club. Top guy :thumbsu:

heard much of what you have said kingpin but have also heard that there are big moves for the redevelopment and already been some meetings with council, roof coming down in 2 weeks time actually so it is starting. TCA to be new home of 20/20 for TCA, if Baker goes to Kingborough it will be a lonely drive on his own cos aint no one else going with him:) and mark my words the borough will be in TSL within 2 years:mad:

Heard the Hall rumour midway through the season but it wouldn't be because of coach relationship, the guys all like Brer a hell of a lot from what I have seen and heard, possibly self started rumour by a player shopping for more coin?? aker style?
