I think you will find that the brown paper bags everyone was recieving at north last yr have turned into big black garbage bags, Hall and Street have both built new houses in the last 12 months, when is afl tas going to do something about all this rorting

They won't do anything.

If the salary cap was more realistic then the level of rorting wouldn't be so bad.

99.9% sure that Kenny Hall did not build a house in the past 12 months. Don't think Street has either, but he might of.

They can't if they cant get the proof. It was only a couple of years back that one of their players done a heap of travelling overseas courtesy of the demons. AFL Tas have no way of tracking any of the clubs. They all do some better than others

Wiz, you might be able to confirm then if he is currently renovating one?;)

if a house was built for every footballer that was overpaid or by rorting the salary cap in the TSL some of those clarence boys would have started their own subdivision by now.

Close friend of mine who is associated with Glenorchy has tipped a possible move of Paul Allison from North Hobart to Glenorchy in the next of couple of weeks.

Ha??? Glenorchy is anything but broke. They're currently in the best financial shape in the Club's history and posted something like a $100k profit this year alone! That clubroom they have is a gold mine. I understand they've also got a very capable board and management in place at the moment that are driving many of these initiatives like signing Akermanis, getting lights at KGV and entering the SFL.

As far as the salary cap - Its been well reported that Aker's payments sit outside the salary cap and Reynolds has been appointed as an assistant coach which would represent a large chunk of his payments and is something they are more than entitled to do and something alot of clubs do.

Important to also remember, Glenorchy has lost a reasonable contingent of senior players over the last couple of years, mainly interstate, so their must be some fat in the salary cap for them to play with.

My view is Devonport has no one but themselves to blame for their current predicament and in losing so many of their star players. It seems to be a pretty simple equation that if you run your club professionally and profitably, players, sponsors and success follows suit. But if you let your club run into the ground, people and money will walk. Its not rocket science.

How do you know so much about what is going on at Glenorchy, and then turn around and tell us how Devonport got it wrong. Sounds like you have had something to do with both clubs? Probably why Glenorchy were able to target players from Devonport.

Reynolds and Mott did not come cheaply, both around the 6K mark for transfer fees, relocation costs and both would be getting 300 plus a game. Wonder how the players at Glenorchy feel about that.

wonder if a couple of other clubs boards are reading this post? Hobart's should read it:confused:

Ah.. not really sure what you're trying to imply here or who you might think I am, mate.

I am a financial member of Glenorchy and have read the Club's latest annual report which details the Club's finances in some detail. My knowledge of Devonport is limited to the recent coverage of their troubles in the newspapers and on this forum. But i dont think you need to have inside knoweldge of the Club to draw the conclusion that any club in Tasmania left carrying half a million in debt has been very poorly managed for some time.

does anyone know if there is an updated clearance list floating around somewhere? the one on AFL Tas website is from last yr.

That is supposedly where all the clearances are meant to be listed, but the list there has some strange additions...for example, Jaye Bowden being cleared to the mainland, yet he's still with Glenorchy.

As well as the clearance of Cameron Blight to AFL Queensland.

So it does seem that the list was updated since the start of last season, but doesn't appear to have the correct info posted.

Blight was cleared to AFL QLD for the state game.
