G’day everyone, Brett Hill here, the man behind the Enviable Tradition name.

I have long held an interest in standing for the PAFC board and can confirm that this year I have decided to nominate and my nomination has been accepted and encouraged by the club.

Yes, I’ve been involved in forthright supporter discussion here and elsewhere over the years, including ideas that have appeared on The Black and White Noise and I think that right now strong membership voices are very important.

So why am I standing?

In simple terms, I believe Port Adelaide is at its best when it has real clarity about who it is, what it stands for, and why it exists. For me, that purpose is clear: winning premierships for its members.

The current board has done an outstanding job fixing the club financially and clearing historic debt. That work mattered, and it deserves respect. With that foundation now in place, I think the next phase is about making sure football success, identity and standards remain the permanent priority, not just for one season, but for the long term.

I’m not running to fight the board, destabilise the club, or push a single issue. I’m running to help strengthen what’s already been rebuilt.

A bit about my background, without the fluff:

I’ve been President of the state chiropractic association, worked as a lecturer, and sit on the Finance Committee of the Australian Chiropractic College. I’ve spent a long time in organisations where governance, culture, budgets and people actually matter, and where boards have to get the balance right between strategy and staying out of the weeds. I’ve also done formal governance and risk training, because I believe boards should be well prepared for the responsibility they carry.

Importantly, I haven’t just turned up now. I am a lifelong supporter and member who goes to all our home games with my Dad who is a 50+ year member (we were both foundation AFL members and you can find our names on the honour board at Alberton). Over recent years I’ve been active as a member in communicating with board directors and others at the club, including the CEO, around governance, identity and long-term direction. I have attended AGM's and asked questions around governance and member control. Always respectfully, always constructively, and always with the club’s best interests in mind.

What I’m actually campaigning for:

• football-first standards and decision-making at board level
• grounding the club in the Creed and a clear Port Adelaide identity
• a majority of member-elected directors alongside strong skills-based appointments
• better, structured connection between the board and members, without turning everything into noise or conflict

I come from outside the AFL bubble. I think that’s a strength. My background is in building organisations that stay aligned to purpose over time, not just during moments of pressure.

Now the important bit.

I’m asking for your support, but one vote alone won’t be enough.

If you agree with the direction I’m putting forward, I need your help in three ways:

1. Please vote for me when voting opens.
2. Encourage your friends and family who are members to vote, and to vote for me.
3. Share this message in other supporter spaces you’re part of, Facebook groups, interstate supporter groups, group chats, anywhere Port people gather who might not be on BigFooty.

This isn’t about factions, personalities or online point-scoring. It’s about Port Adelaide being strong, aligned and ruthless in its pursuit of success.

I’m happy to answer genuine questions here or via DM. My focus is on contributing constructively and respectfully to the club we all care about.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for caring enough about Port to get this far.

Consider the word, spread.

Best of luck.

Waiting to hear your stance on the buses before making a decision on voting.......

Seriously though good to see someone that we actually "know" run for the position (as it was when Rick ran).
You're a pretty good chance of getting at least 1 international vote!!
Good luck

I think I'm a decent chance of getting a South American on too. We'll see :)

I have known Brett both professionally and personally over many years. He is an extremely good communicator, knows how to lead in times of success and pressure, and will not let decision making be driven by anything other than through the lens of it being a stepping stone in part to our Club's next premiership (be it at AFL, AFLW and SANFL levels).

I believe that Brett's heart is in the right place, and that he also has the requisite skills to be an effective director at our Club going forward.

Given Brett's longstanding tenure as a member of our Club, I know that he has been able to share a number of his thoughts and ideas with various Club personnel over the years, helping influence some major positive changes right at the top levels of our Club.

Some might suggest then, "well if he's already putting his ideas forward, why should we vote for him?"

And the reason is that sometimes, the best way to do anything, is to do it yourself.

The Club is in a very strong financial position. Strong enough that it has the potential to be a true powerhouse of the competition if its leaders embrace calculated risk in the pursuit of winning. And to that point - it is time for someone with a big vision, a Port Adelaide vision, to help steer our Club on a path forwards which is consistent with its ethos of existing to win premierships. I know that Brett has that vision, and that as a member of our Club, I know he will represent our interests of upholding the Port Adelaide ethos and values more than any other candidate on the upcoming ballot.

Brett, I wish you nothing but the best and look forward to voting for you in the coming weeks. Best of luck.

Please push the agenda on a majority member elected board. Koch needs to hear that and running for the board is a great platform.
100%, it is a big part of why I am doing it.

I have officially posted my nomination to Facebook and Instagram. If you support what I am campaigning for I would love it if you could share it to your own socials, tag in anyone you know who loves Port and if you see it on a supporters group that you are involved with please leave a supporting comment.

So it's you and Jonas, are you aware of any other candidates?
I have been provided with the full list, there are a significant number of them at this stage, though people are still being given the opportunity to withdraw before it is made public if they wish.

I won't pre-empt anyone else's campaign but I can say that there is only 1 past player.

He will be your primary opposition as he will be the default for the unthinking.

For the record
I now recognise the face from previous AGMs
And Brett always asks brilliant questions, and in a way that makes me feel bad because in hindsight makes the question I just asked/was planning to ask very nuffy

Haha, thanks mate.

You've got my vote mate, and i'll encourage every other member I know to vote for you.

Just based on your posting here it's clear you're intelligent, able to construct and present a coherent argument, and have the right sort of philosophy that i'd like to see representing me on the board.

I wasn't previously aware of your resume but it's clear that being on the board of a football club is well within the scope of your skillset and experience.
