Running For The Board; I REALLY need your help

I would have no issue with Jonas being on the board if we could vote in 10 board members, but this just feels like a massive waste of our precious 2 member elected spots. He doesn't represent the members and has never demonstrated any sort of alignment with us.

Just more evidence that we need more control.

A cynic would say that they wanted Jonas so they could say that the members only vote in former players and shouldn't be trusted with more spots

Would be interesting to know how close you came Enviable Tradition.
If you did receive a significant amount of votes, I'd be hopeful that the Club/board would reach out to you and seek your involvement in 1 of the many committees, in particular 1 that involves a bit of member engagement...

Not all doom and gloom, however he does not represent the push and member/success focus that we have all been striving for. His last few years he completely disregarded our members and any feedback we had. Another "white noise" merchant

Disappointing outcome even if it was expected.

A first past the post system with a field of 10 was always going to favour the former player who was being pushed by the club and media. I doubt they’ll release numbers but would be very interested to see the voting splits.

Ive got no problem with Jonas, seems like a good bloke, reasonably smart, etc. Though, IMO clearly not qualified and deserving of a board spot on his own merit.

So in that scenario to vote him in, for me you have to be saying that his footy justified his selection. But how as a member you could vote for him is beyond me. Hes literally a representation of our Hinkley years of failure and poor culture of late. The joint captain, the lack of ruthless endeavour, white noise denier, theres just so much summed up by his time in our club. Sorry, but I couldn't vote for a player like that.

Well they said over 5 thousand people voted so I can't imagine there was more than 6 thousand votes otherwise they'd have used that number.

The Aber/Tredrea election saw around 10k vote.

I remember him saying after the PF loss to Richmond that "this will burn in the guts" only to follow it up after the PF loss to the Bulldogs a year later with "we didn't have fire in the belly".

I will let the dust settle before I think about the answer to that question. I don't think I would run against George though.
