Opinion Running for the board

Does anyone know how the 50+1 rule works in the Bundesliga? Would it work for the AFL?

50 + 1 would work if AFL clubs were privatised; however, since 1992, the AFL hasn‘t been privatised.

I agree with you Rick. I also think we need to start working together to put forward candidates regardless of the likelihood of winning. While I'm not the right person to be in the hot seat, I'm certainly the right person to sit behind the scenes and help craft a campaign strategy.

If REH, or anyone else for that matter, was willing to put their hand up, I would back that in with help getting things together to present a strategy for the common goal; back to member control.

Hi

I've had a few people ask about running for the board. So instead of sending the same message privately, here is the information.

Surprisingly the club sends out notification to run, you fill it out. They cant stop you.

When i ran i met KO and KT after putting in a small CV.

Obviously they are there to gauge your professionalism and experience, what you would contribute. They knew about the podcast etc I had active board experience which assisted with a NFP.

Applicants go into a same pages selection process, so I didnt find marketing that pages being to beneficial.as its marketing all runners.

Obviously bogfoot support, the podcast followers really supported me, forever greatful. I got 22% of the votes. THEILE got 45 i think, but my skew was enough to have them impressed or worried. I suspect like alotmof boards the members would do the calling to influence their member contacts who to vote for.

As my % of vote was significant They offered me a spot on the marketing committee with some other external advisors with employees and 2 board members. Cardone ended up shutting it down, shame.

Running against a former player would be tough IMO as they would be the shiny toy to a kid. Around 3,000 members voted in mine, I think last year got 10k.

I don't know how long the average PAFC board meeting goes for, but I reckon REH could turn them into marathons and have the kokmeister squirming in his chair!

I can wear mine that I bought from George at West Lakes circa 1994.

It's more of a vest nowadays though.
