Watched one week at a time last night and Nick Maxwell was asked are they grooming Rusling as a defender, and Maxwell said no, we are just getting fitness into Rusling and will most likely resume up forward in a months time.....:thumbsu: Good to hear as I think Ruslings talent will be wasted if he is played in the backline.

watching maxwell on that show with that dildo (walls) and hearing him talking about many is issues was great.. Nick Maxwell has and continues to do us proud.. He is well spoken and doesn't accept nonsensical questions...

I loved it when he said the Rusler would be back playing forward in 4 weeks and that he is playing backline to build confidence and learning how to play footy again after so much time off..

Maxwell is a very very very good captain and will be considered a great one when he holds that cup aloft later this year..:thumbsu:

HELLELUJAH!!!

The skipper lays down the law.

Very exciting news.

Has 2007 written all over it in terms of Rus being right to resume come the business end of the season where he was explosive and damaging.

Cannot wait for his imminent return.

Rusling & Dick are two aces up our sleeves in our forward line, who will make it near impossible to match up our forwards. Will also mean Leon can go back into the middle where he was at his best.

Not sure where JA is at now, he seems to be competing with Dawes and not an automatic inclusion. Medhurst will also be under immense pressure once Dick & Rusling arrive back on the scene.

A forward line like this is quite exciting:

Fraser Cloke Davis/Didak
Medhurst/Rusling Dawes/JA Dick

very happy to hear about rusling going forward in a months time, a shame the club couldnt explain that to the supporters. would save a lot of grief

They really don't have too

good news though

this news certainly does have an 07 feel to it! let's just hope he has some luck and strings some VFL games together before we get too excited for an AFL return.
But even better than 07 is the fact that at least this year, if we happen to make it, we won't be playing in a preliminary final after having to fly back from an extra-time perth game. unless...heaven forbid...freo...

Woah woah woah... I'm sure he said "a month... I mean, a couple of months." Am I totally wrong?

Even if it is 2 months away, it's all fine.

Rus has not broken down yet and we are approaching round 6. He is being managed very well at the moment and it is pleasing that he has played at least 3-4 games so far this season (pre-season included).

Our injury list from last week looked like this:
Round four
John Anthony (foot)
Luke Rounds (calf)
Sean Rusling (calf)
John McCarthy (thigh)
Tristan Francis (quad)
Josh Thomas (calf)
Ben Sinclair (shins)
Brad Dick (shoulder)

Our injury list for this week looks like this:
Round five
John Anthony (foot) test
Josh Thomas (calf) 1-2 weeks
Ben Sinclair (shins) 1-2 weeks
Brad Dick (shoulder) 4-5 weeks

It clearly indicates players with previous injury issues such as Rus (body), JMac (hammys), Rounds (legs), Francis (quads) and now most recently Jack (shoulder/foot) are being carefully monitored with a "no risk" policy taken with them. Even Dick will be carefully managed once he is ready to return to competitive football in 4-5 weeks time if you factor in the added conditioning and match fitness he will require before he is ready for selection again.

This is very positive news because at least 4 of those players (Rus, Jack, Dick and JMac) are all capable of senior footy and can play important roles for the team when their opportunities arise again.

I have got my hopes up too often that this bloke will finally get some luck with injuries and get his chance to have a decent crack. I'm more than happy for the club to keep trying, but i doubt whether he will ever reach his full potential.

Oh please!!?!?? Medder's was AA before getting injured and is now back online. Only had the 1 bag in Rd1 but always gives a great tackle and goal assists. Dick when in full swing will be playing wing plus the fowardline and Rus .... well? how about we wait till he starts playing in the forward line in the VFL before we start saying he is about to replace anyone in the senior list.

I really wish Rus gets back in but hey, he won't be the first to have an early career end due to his body failing and certainly won't be the last.

I thought Malthouse was going to be stubborn in this regard , as he did tout Rusling as having the tools to make a backman.
But I was also told the other week , that the main reason they are playing him there , are because his defensive skills are almost non existent and he'll need that skill and mindframe to succeed/play as a forward.

Maxy was great on OWAAT last night. Great to hear that the Rusling arrangement is only temporary, and loved his answer about ANZAC day - couldn't have said it any better (except what Hirdy said on On the Couch).

I heard Rusling was injured and that the club were keeping it under wraps for now until they know how serious it is... is that true? Really really really hope not.

:thumbsu::thumbsu::) The best news I've heard about rusling in ages....but the bit about him playing forward is the icing on the cake....I was stressing about his future position.....the thing is he has a minor calf issue at the moment and that sounds about right, someone who has played full-on competitive footy for so long, suddenly starts in the VFL and all these little soft tissue injuries start popping up.......unless he gets poleaxed he will come up trumps.....fingers crossed always

CFC Website says 1-2 weeks  Will need time to regain match fitness but still great that he is making a quick recovery.
