From what I saw of Rusling last Friday night, i reckon you guys stiffed us there because apparently we wanted him at pick 30 in the draft. Good mark, really quick and can jump, was neat in the packs a couple of times with his hands, although his kicking action looks slightly unnatural but I am sure this can be worked on.

Apparently the Pies had hid him and I reckon good onya's if he turns out to be a star. When the season was blown last year, Collingwood could easily have gone for the priority picks but chose to give their all and win a few extra games.

The 2004 draft could be a big one for the Pies with him and Cloke although I am not sure about Egan yet from the limited times I have seen him.

cheers Schopp

a few teams had their eye on him but we got to him first, was a speculative pick in most respects as he had only played 1 sanfl reserves game, but that game last friday night he showed a real lot, great vertical leap and awesome hands, you were right bout his kicking, needs some work, but i am hoping he can develop into a real talented tall wing type option

Trav defintely looks the goods, and Egan needs to develop some muscle, but musnt lose any of his pace or poise in the process, cos they are his greatest assets

what do you think of Monfries Schopp? cos the pies could easily have taken him as well, who will be the better player? im not prepared to have a crack at that cos i dont know a lot about Monfries

Thanks for the respect, and the hiding was deceptive. We all thought Neil Balme was there to scout Angus Monfries, Danny Meyer, or Ben Eckerman. Seeing as we passed on all of those guys, Eckerman more than once, that obviously wasn't true. Rusling was the guy.

Don't you worry, Eegs will be good. He's got that electric ability, great height for flanker/wingman, and great tackling and ball-reading instincts.

Suspect action but fairly reliable kick. I was talking to some mates that played against him when he was at Westminster. Kicked 9.1 against them and 12.4 once.

yea it doesn't matter as long as he can kick goals. Honestly who cares about his action if he kicks bags of goals game after game?

You tighten up in weird places watching him kick, but bar one shocking OOF for Willi, he's deleivered nicely. His first game for Willi seniors saw a few points, but twas a windy day at Point Jellybean IIRC!

Your welcome

To be honest i havent seen much of Monfries because of the lack of coverage of Essendon games in WA (well the ones he has played in) so like you i wont have a crack at that yet.

Monfries can play - seriously - i was ********ed that we passed him at the draft (lucky rusling looks ok). he'll be a 10 year player - more importantly hes a skilled mid - read colin wisebys review if ya want the lowdown

He's also a slow mid, which is exactly what we don't need. His skills aren't outstanding, either. He can get the ball though, and has a good feel for the game.

Will be a good player, but is nothing close to anything we need.
