Russel and Hartlett have to go!

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

I understand why people say Russell had a good game today, because he got the ball and tackled well. But seriously, I hope you were all at the game, and even if you were go back and watch it again....watch how costly his turnovers are...they are absolutely costly!!!

But Bentick was a lot worse....did anyone see how many turnovers this guy directly or indirectly caused? He is D grade. And if you think I'm just saying this cause we lost, go back and look at my posts...I have always said he should never play again!

It would have to be indirectly... he didnt have a single clanger...

JR was good.... that kick on goal however was the worst

I also think that our #44 needs a good talking to...... currently he is the turn over king
I cannot believe how much I hear of this, he is our reigning club champ and a gun. He is ultra reliable and a ball magnet, plus he handballs a lot and it is not his job to kick, so if no one is there to receive its their fault.

yeah well the stats show some horrible things too!... the goals he missed were at critical times of the match! Those votes are pretty justified... Giving the three to Fev was a little extreme however could be justified...

Who gives a f*** what Triple M say? Stop listening to the media and make your own judgements. And for the record channel 10 were raving about him all day.

Russell was outstanding today. Did some absolutely brilliant things and anyone bagging him after today's effort is obviously letting their emotions affect their judgement. Was BOG for Carlton and worked his guts out all day, a lot more than I can say for Judd or Fev or your so called "stars" who completely dropped their bundles today. Great game from Noofa!!

Misunderstood me mate...I agree with you. They said Russell turned it over 5 times out of 11 or something.

And to what someone said before - if Bentick didn't have any clangers then go back and watch how many times his failure to go for a ball, or choose the wrong option or get in the way caused a turnover

Russell had a good first half.
Football is played for 4 qtrs (3 touches after half time i think)
Scoreboard pressure is everything.
Missing goals from 30 metres out to put us 9 points up with your final touch of the game is almost unacceptable.
Yes their were some other average performances out on the ground today, JR was in the average catagory.
Said it before and i will say it again. He would not get a game at any other side in the AFL, so talk of trading him at seasons end is laughable.

just leave the poor bloke alone he is improving more than gibbs this year... he lacks confidence and if you people are watching the same game, you would see each week he is improving... he has got all the atributes to be a very good player... people just assume he is the carlton scape goat when ever we loose... grow up. he tries his guts out to be the best he wants to be...

how about... the game was on Foxtel, followed up by the fact that the bold is the most hypocritical thing I have ever heard!...

Russell was average. Yes he did some good things but he butchered the ball horribly. He cost us three goals today and the kicking into the man on the mark while having a set shot from 30m out is unexcusable. The only postive out of the debarcle was the fact that he ran the player down.

For a tagger he played very very loose on McLeod who still had significant influence on the game. While there were a few good things there was still some seriously horrible things. A one or two week stint in the VFL to work on his skills would be justified I dont think he will be too missed.

I would love a link to find out how efficient his stats were considering his 3 or 4 blunders in front of the sticks which already puts him below 75%. His tackling was good today.

Just on tackling Bentick had a great game today, if hadley is to return I would of thought it would be for Pfeiffer.

Just an update: Russell 16 stats with 9 tackles, however gave away 2 freekicks, 5 clangers, operating at 68% effectiveness and only had two contested possessions...

yeh i'd be happy with that. reading all the reviews on pfoeffer when we first got him was that he was a very good tackler, IMO he hasn't showed that. if hadley is all good to go take pfieffer out not bentick. ratts wants to keep preasuring the opposition, and having bentick and hadley both in could cause a few turnovers from solid tackling

no i know that... i was adding to it not going against it :thumbsu:

Not just missed the goal but kicked into man on the mark, Whilst i am not a Russell fan you people better be objective with your arguements in regards to Hartlett being injury prone and Russell missing goals because those 2 categories are both relevant to Brad Fisher and if anyone can find a remedy to Stevens actually chasing or tackling then perhaps we would be better.

Fisher is sensational trade bait and has been for 2 or 3 seasons because he underachieves with kicking for goal, contested marks, disposal in general play and not forgetting injury!!!!!

however fisher generally contributes week in week out and he also provides a very good target. What Fisher is lacking is a good solid contesting CHF. Both Fev could benefit from this! Hartlett was good early, led and presented well and was doing alright. But again injury struck him down and I have no doubt this will be his last year. We can't persist with him especially at the expense of other players development such as Austin, Hampson and both O'Hailpins.

The game was definately on Channel 10 here mate. And how is that hypocritical I said that he should stop listening to the media but then I added that "for the record" channel 10 (yes I'm aware are part of the media, that's my point) had a different view than that of triple M, therefore if he's going to base his criticism on media comments then channel 10's commentary team share a contrasting view.

most ridicolous statement i have ever read that Russell is progressing better then Gibbs and Gibbs lacks confidence opposed to Russell!!!!

Thought Gibbs was pretty cool in the heat today and did ok in the 1 on 1 battles against Goodwin when Goodwin had a heap of size and experience over him.

Gibbs also set up a brilliant 1st half against the Pies 2 weeks ago and certainly set the tone after an early mistake.

I really liked JR'S game today.. He seems 2 kick better on his left foot.
Where is his best position though! I don't mind him tagging and at times he offers a real good lead up target.
Thoughts?

At the moment we have far too many duds in this team, we have to make hard decisions. Just because some dud won our best and fairest don't mean he is good. If you look at the last 3 B&F's then you well see how low the Blues have actually sunk.

Fisher has runs on the board and has stood up on plenty of other occasions, e.g v Collingwood 2 weeks ago with 14 marks as a lead up forward.
Russell has contributed a total of 2 good games out of 34 (1 whole game and 2 halves including today) has 0 runs on the board. Hartlett just cannot get his body right and would have to be skating on very very thin ice depending on what he can contribute when he gets back into the seniors, thats if he can get back in.

he wasn't basing his view on Triple M's view... he was using it as back up... Everyone is clapping their hands at 16 stats and 9 tackles but fail to acknowledge the 5 clangers including the misses on goal especially the horrible kick into the man on the mark!

and just because you said "just for the record" it doesn't make that comment not hypocritical!
