Probably for the senior citizen category which is basically for community service type activities. It's a nomination, not a victory at this stage.

Every state and territory has 4 categories and those 4 winners are put up against winners from the other states and territories come January 26th.

Met the great man growing up in Loxton. As a kid, he was godlike to me..

A story my dad used to tell me.

My dad and Russ's brother Bill went to see Russ at his house in Adelaide back in the 70's and he wasn't home. Let them selves into his house. Dad wanted to see a Magary medal. Looked all over the house and eventually found a medal in one of Russ's shoe's.

At 39 minute mark they introduce what the Local Hero award is all about. 42 minute mark they showcase the 4 nominees. At 47.30 Russell is announced the winner and he talks until the 52 minute mark about the programs he has worked on for the last 21 years.
