Solved Russell Street Bombing

The 30 year anniversary is coming up on 27th March 2016 so you can expect to see some TV and newspaper articles over the next month.

30 years ago around lunchtime a stolen Commodore exploded out the front of the then Vic Pol HQ @ Russell Street. The blast severely injured Policewoman Angela Taylor. Const Taylor never recovered and died on 20th April 1986. The first policewoman to die in the line of duty in Australia.

22 others where also injured including a magistrate and other police officers.

Craig Minogue was convicted of the bombing and remains in jail.

Defined as a terrorist attack, it was not the first car bomb in Australia but it was the first direct attack of this type against Police. Two years later Walsh Street murders took place but it was not till the Endeavour Hills police station stabbings (2014) and then NSW Police HQ shooting (2015) have police been so directly challenged.
