Watched the game today on the television, geeze that Number two for us is pretty ordinary, to say the least.

It seems that he doesn't handle physical contact that well, or at all, for that matter. Also, his thinking on the move is virtually non-existent. Fevola must of been thinking "What tha **** is that garbage"?, as he set up the old one - two only to see it totally butchered by JR, earlier on in the game.

Opposition players must pray to the footballing gods that Russell lines up on them.

our depth is woeful sure we have judd, fev,kruezer,gibbs,murphy but our bottom 6 players lets face it are very ordinary some are inexperienced some are just not up to it.at best we will finish bottom 8 side in finals this year not happy about it but realistic my main concern can Ratten coach

I have deleted about 30 posts, deleted a few threads and started issuing formal warnings to our own. Rome wasn't built in a day and I just need those that are sick of these threads to hold us accountable to do something about them or explain why we didn't.

It won't happen overnight ..... but ... well you know.

I would say that I thought Russell wasn't the entire reason why he lost, but a lot of his decision making skills and lack of 'one percenters' today (so to speak) left a lot to be desired.

I would drop him next week and bring back Hoops.

I'll add a positive for JR today. When we were again frigging around with the ball in the backline in traffic, JR decided to grab the ball and bust through. Nearly got caught holding it but got a small handball off. I like the fact that he feels that he needs to start taking on the game himself and make things happen.

It's a small positive.

It's not just this forumn, listened to SEN after the game and a good number of callers were bagging Russel and Wiggo. The general consensus is that Russ and Wiggo are just not up to AFL standard. The number of people thinking this are growing by the week. If Ratts keeps playing these players and stopping another player from developing quicker then people will soon turn on him.
I like Ratts although he got smashed in the coaching department today. AT the end of the day it's not the mistakes that piss people off, it's not learning from your mistakes.

Good point but a lot of the posters don't understand why he is first picked after the guys you mentioned above. All of the other players in the bottom six have had time in the 2s but Russell hasnt. Getting a little scary for mine - i'm guessing he sits at the front of every Ratten class..you know, the desk right up front...would explain a thing or two.

My main issue with Russell is i don't know what role he plays in the team, and i don't think he does each either.

People say he's great at shutting down an opponent, but there's obvious evidence as to how that's not true.

1. He never plays the #1 tag, AJ is always our first string tagger, so that alone can't be why JR is consistently getting a game.
2. Today Knights kicked 5 goals on him, surely enough said.

It's no secret i'm not a fan of JR but it's simply because i don't know why he's in the team, he hasn't got a good disposal, he's not a good forward option, he's not quick, he isn't an In and Under kind of player either, so what does he bring the the club? I just don't see it.

The MC these past few weeks have been awful. Dropping Robbo still mystifies me, he was great today and brings a toughness to the team that we're really lacking. Everybody loves how Bentick puts his head over the ball and gets the side some good contested possessions, well Robbo does exactly that, but also has a great offensive side to his game which makes him a real weapon. So if Robbo is dropped how can JR still be getting a game? If he wasn't a top 10 draft pick IMO nobody would be defending him and this would be his last year on the list, if he was lucky to make it this far.

We can't afford to have passengers on this team, and whilst the whole team played awful today we need to start making some hard calls on alot of players. Fev, JR, Stevens, Thornton etc. all need to be seriously looked at, there is no heart from these players and it really brings the team down.

To Ratts and the MC-Show some bloody guts and do what is needed to get this team back to where I, the players, and everyone on this bloody board wants it to be, back on the top of the bloody ladder!

IMO he doesn't have the composure to play in the backline.

Once the pressure is on him he always just tries to get the ball away from him without thinking of where he's aiming. I'm not sure if this is about not wanting to take accountability or simply not wanting to get hit, but either way it's not a good move by Ratts to play him that deep.

You are perfectly entitled to express a negative opinion but let's make it factual shall we? A dud suggests he has no ability to play at this level. He may be an ordinary player plenty of times but dud is just your way of expressing your frustration. Does he really turn it over almost every time he gets the ball? I could have sworn his efficiency rate is at least 60% and probably more. Another overreaction perhaps?

My point is you started a thread, not to discuss his game or his merits, but to vent and exaggerate. A good example of the repetitive threads we see every week.



Isn't this just a case of having a shot at the positive posters and therefore eliciting negative responses from them, which in turn are complained about. Stick to the topic at hand and let's not fan the flames.

What if he reinvented himself in the VFL, lifted his disposal to 99% and picked up 35 possessions every week? Never? Just emotional and self serving again.
