The Joker - would you be naming McPharlin as one of your better players today? I would if I was a Freo supporter and what did he do? Did he get in the way of the Adelaide forwards just like you are saying happened with Rutten's team mates going to mop up the spoils that Rutten makes? Isn't that a good initiative of the adelaide players to leave their player, trusting that Rutten is going to spoil and the ball spill free so that we can then try and rebound it out of your 50? Watch the contest again, only a couple of times did Rutten have another player assisting him in the marking contest, most if it was one on one contested footy and he won those contests.

McPharlin ALWAYS had an opponent. McPharlin beat his player with no help from any other FREE player coming across to help him...

Both Pavlich and Tarrant had extra players on them.

Rutten won that duel convincingly, but I couldn't understand Connolly's tactics. Pav would've been better served standing at the top of the 50m arc being the gateway to the goals and dragging a tall defender away from the goals. Too many tall forwards starting in the goalsquare and it pretty much played into Adelaide's hands.

As for Tarrant, yes he's hard working in that he typically takes a pile of marks on the wings, but today he was a non-factor, either as an influence or a distraction.

This could be the most pathetc excuse i've seen yet. We all know that for the last year Pavlich has been one of the premier forwards in the competition. I saw him kick 8 goals against the Crows last year and i assure you he was not a defender. Today, he got maybe 2 or 3 possessions outside your forward 50. If Pav is not a forward he is probably the most inadequate defender in the competition based on today's performance. Just say it, Pav got beaten by one of the premier defenders in the competition. It's easy
