Watched the VFL game yesterday and thought Sean Rusling looked pretty good. Took a couple of nice marks and kicked a goal and seemed to be moving pretty well. Happy he got thru the game unscathed. :thumbsu::)

Re: Ruzza

Now he needs to do that 3-4 more times, and get games in a row or he will be delisted.

He won't play senior football this year, put money on that, he is now fighting for his spot on the list, with 6 VFL games (maybe 5 if we have a bye) plus finals to prove he can stand up.

Good signs yesterday though.

Re: Ruzza

Must admit i'm pretty sceptical about him resurrecting his career but there were some great signs yesterday. He still has a great dash and leap on him :thumbsu:

Have not seen game yet but He is Playing for his Career as if he goes down again they would have to De-List him. Even if he plays all games for the rest of the Season he still could get De-Listed or Traded

He actually surprised me with some really good touches. He is certainly a natural forward though.

Lets hope he can string some games together and keep improving. He certainly has some talent and deserves some luck!

Comments like these are more a lack of patience then anything else. It's only round 16 and our fowardline is hardly settled there is still absolutely room for Rusling to come into the side. Rusling has something that none of our other fowards really have and that is a real weapon to beat defenders. In doing that he creates a target. Rusling has in the past come into the side late in the year and played finals. There is certainly time on his side to break into the side this year. If Rusling plays every game for the rest of the year there is no chance he will be delisted and a very good chance he will be in our senior finals side.

True but Does not Help when He Spends most the Year on the Injury List and Lucky to play 5 Games a Season. IF he ever gets fit he would be great Weapon but with his Injuries he is almost a List Clogger.

Scott Reed seems to have great speed

This excites me and I'd have to say I'm inclined to agree.

I like to think of him as our version of Robbie Tarrant. North have persisted and have gotten a seriously injury prone player on the park, I hope we have the vision and patience to achieve something similar.

He's been tried and tested in finals so is not really an unknown quantity. He would fit one of the forward spots we seem to be rotating players through (based on form, suspension or injury). Good luck to him.

It's interesting to hear he managed a goal. Was he played up forward at any point? I much prefer him in the forward line than up back.

Like I said it's a sign of impatience and a one size fits all mentality. People assume because he is always injured he will always be injured, fact of the matter is if you break it down it's been more bad luck then a bad body.

Shoulders are the only concern over his body and they have been fine the last two years. He has had some horrid luck.

Rusling is one of those players whose hype far exceeds his actual talent. Good for him if he can manage to play out the season, but with Anthony unable to get a regular gig Rusling is no chance at all.

I disagree avidly.
Quite the opposite.

that's good news for him. is there any room for him in the team tho? it would be great to see playing tho

Well In the Old Days when we had Bigger Lists he would just stay on there until Fit but this day and age can you carry a Guy who seems to be always injured

Yes you can and do and often with great success. Their is no prize for delisting a player for the sake of taking action. Joel Smith for Hawthron was stuck by and it paid off, Hawthorn are currently sticking with Max Bailey despite him having had multiple knee injuries, Beau Muston another and the fact is knee injuries are much more restricting to a player in the future. Buckley and Hird both struggled with long battles with reoccuring injuries.

Impatience?

We are talking about a player that has played 17 Games in 5 years. Posts stating he is at risk of being delisted are completely justified imo.

No chance of playing AFL this year.

Why would you get rid of him? We will have enough delistings and retirements to offer him another one year contract. It's not as if we are paying the guy SH** loads.

He is a tall forward who comliments our forward line with a combination of speed and leap which can be dangerous in an open forward line.

Keep him for another year. Over the next couple of years Obree, Fraser, Lockyer, Cook, Corrie, Barham and Johnno (Presti?) will most likely not be on the senior list. We have a spot for him.

Won't play AFL this season, but it was a promising hit out. It was good to see he was played forward.

Hopefully he can stay uninjured for the remainder of the season.

I personally think Rusling is safe we have to delist three if I'm correct. Corrie and Cook are GAWWWn. Obree will probably retire and Fraser, Presti, Lockyer may follow suit if there are no longer opportunities for them or we win the big one. really can't see mass delistings due to the position our list is in and the compromised draft.

Lockyer, O'Bree will both retire. 100% guarnateed - Lockyer only played on because he felt the club was close to a premiership at the end of last season. O'Bree's behind Ball, Wellers and Blair now.

Cook and Corrie delisted.

That's four list changes.

When a guy has as much talent as Rus does he's worth the risk for another year.

No chance of playing AFL this year.

Guy Richards was on our list 8 years for 39 games and was fit most of that time.

Anthony Corrie is on our list, he has played 56 games in 8 years on AFL lists.

Ryan Cook has played 14 games and has barely ever been injured.

These guys are the definitions of list cloggers.

Sean Rusling is only 23, and when 100% fit has been in our best 22 more often than not - these are not guys you just de-list. Especially when the draft pool is slim. We can mature age rookie him.

I'm not sure Locky will retire, unless he plays in a premiership.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Fraser or Wood sought a trade. Fraser would be playing AFL at quite a few clubs if he wasn't at Collingwood.
