It could be argued he's the most valuable player in the competition.

You would be senile to suggest you wouldn't want him playing for your team. It's practically assured that whoever he tags won't have much say in the match.

Brilliant player and only slagged off because YOUR team doesn't have him.

Crowley is an average footballer who constantly needs to resort to unsportsman like practices and basically be a total arseh0le to beat an opponent. I'd like to know what he says to his opponents and just how much personal abuse he dishes out.

Great taggers are Cameron Ling, he played tight and hard but didn't need to cross the like and be a dip stick school yard bully to win at all costs.

So yes Crowley is effective but as a sportsman he would be despised by those who play against him and hold little to no respect when compared a Ling.

Apparently he plays within the rules according to those involved but that's not what you want to have said out loud is it?

I've got no complaints. He beat Jack fair and square in a physical gamestyle but nothing outrages. And won his own ball to with 22 touches.

If he's playing in the rules it's up to other players clubs figure out how to combat him.

I agree. Really he gave nothing away worthy of anything more than a free kick. Awesome game.

He has also created a distraction to the hawks leading into the GF, thinking about who he will go to and how they will handle it. All opposition teams need to factor him in.

The beauty of his paring with a coach like Lyon is that that in itself can be leveraged to our advantage as happened with Geelong, where he was sent to Stokes rather than the expected matchup with Selwood, then shifted to SJ. You cannot simply plan for what he may do.

I love a good laugh, so I must check it out.

But I have to say I find it slightly ironic that in order to convey to Kieren Jack, who doesn't strike me as particularly cricetine in his appearance (and I think I'm being objective here, firstly in not being Kieren Jack, and secondly in having raised guinea pigs - though not hamsters, admittedly - as a child*), it was necessary (at least momentarily) for Crowley to look convincingly like a hamster himself.


*I have particularly fond memories of one fluffy little chap, who we perceptively christened Fluffy.

So in the end, sledging is the basis for your negative post about him, or do you give some credence to the pinching furphy for which there is no actual evidence? What was it in the game against Sydney that would make anyone "despise" him, apart from a highly regarded opponent who was absolutely smashed?
 
Anyone who thinks Crowley is an ordinary player has zero credibility as an observer of football. He may not be the most sublimely talented player, but he has enough talent to add to his team offensively. What he has an abundance of is football intelligence. More than 50% of his game is played out in his head before the first bounce, because he has studied his opponent and understands how he thinks. Most players can study their opponent enough to know which foot they kick on, but Crowley knows how many steps they usually take before they kick it.

It is interesting that there is never any video footage of his "usual" despite the news/coverage he has been getting in the last few months since the Harvey incident. Pinched Harvey 300 times apparently, but nothing.

If his "usual" is just constantly verbally abusing the oposition, poor babies!
 
Yep we had Shane Heard in the 80s doing the same job as Crowley does. But Heard did it the quiet way. The silent stalker. These type of players are sent out to do one job, plus win the ball themselves.

Crowley has an ugly mug, has the classic looks of a dirty mongrel, is a smartarse and takes harassing an opponent to a new level. But I bet he spends an enormous amount of time sitting with coaches looking at footage of his opponents and prepares like every other player in the team who has a role to play.
 
and he's fit...as fit as any footballer can be.

All of the above actually.

Just find it interesting you guys bag Crowley, who always admits he has to work hard for what he has achieved, yet stick up for Lingy. They actually changed the rules because of the way he went about his business.
 
The fact from last night is Crowley won his one on one. Jack got beaten and I'm sure he'll be the first to admit it. The stats don't lie.

He won the disposals against his opponent and most other statistics. When people complain that Crowley is just a stopper, they neglect to even look at the fact that he does accumulate possession in important parts of the ground. If he has this sort of game next week against Mitchell, give the flag to Fremantle.
