Ling used to face away from the ball and wrap his arms around his opponent to stop him running so don't give me that crap about him being a fair player. How he got away with it is beyond me, I would have umpired him out of the game.I think you are blinkered by his nice guy image that is being presented at them moment. He was worse than Crowley ever was!
Every team has a tagger and the supporters all praise their efforts when they shut down a gun player...Lots of teams have taggers who have a great run at shutting down a player but Crowley is in some sort of form!
I use the Lions a s a example. We traded for Raines but soon realised he cant kick and is a liability with ball in hand...enter turning him into a tagger which he has had quite a number a great games. My point is every team has a player who can tag very well...no point whinging about it

Please god, me too. Would love Hawthorn to be over-focussed on Crowley. I mean it worked so well all those years ago against your mob when Geelong went to take out Brereton.

I actually think Crowley is an amazing player. Every team needs a tagger.

I like him, and think it's good that he and ballantyne are getting a bit of notoriety. Good to have characters in the game who don't mind pushing the boundaries a little bit.
Looking forward to Saturday, hopefully players from both teams can get stuck right in.

a Hawk should smash the living #### out him the first opportunity they get..and keep on smashing him. anything to get him away from Mitchell ..even if its a few mtres...shepherd and smash Crowley and Sam is free to do his thing.
Or maybe some freo player should just smash mitchell, or maybe just a big all in brawl, and last man standing can play the footy on his own!

What I find weird is that people think a tagger should be flattened. If that's the aim of the game then just have Aaron Sandilands run through Mitchell. Problem solved.
I mean, if flattening people off the ball is the way to do things, surely those evil Freo thugs could just do some flattening themselves. There's very little of Mitchell, some Matthew Lloyd style Velvet Sledgehammer manoeuvres would probably be enough.
I expect Freo to play clean, though.

Im serious. Hawthorn can not afford to let Crowley harass Mitchell every minute of the match.
Well place shepherds- hits to the body without hitting his ugly head- should be designed to cause as much damage as possible. Charging, ramming, targeting..call it want you want. It's worth getting reported for even. Just hit him hard.
Or do nothing and just have Mitchell get 17 disposals instead of 34..

Mitchell can dodge like a hare. Sandi would be struggling to hit the mark..

Expect him to beat Mitchell who hasn't taken too well to taggers in the past.

One of the dockers in a recent interview said crowley holds the bench press record for the club (current players)
that would hold him in good stead with his tagging no wonder he doesnt have to hold and wrestle like other taggers. That forearm arm bar prob does the trick.

Would hate to play on him, but if he was a Crow, he'd be a favourite of mine for sure.
Freo deserve major kudos for making the GF and Crowley has been a big part of that success.
