they played most of the season without Sandi and Pav. Put them in the team, and they go great. People are thinking the team is sans Sandi and Pav. With them, they are supercharged

As we all know, I lot of things have go right during a season for a team to get all the way to a GF.

There's no guarantee they'll get there next year. Regardless of whether Sandi, Pav or Mcpharlin are there or not. I'm just saying they have all guns blazing atm..Fyfe, Barlow, Mundy, Mzungu, Hill, Duffield, Crowley...make hay while the sun is shining.

lol..are you serious?

GFs are death matches. There is nothing wrong what so ever about a few well place shepherds hammered into Crowley using full force. As long as it's not to his ugly head.

I'm guessing you're one of those people who have never ran out onto a ground and played with big boys? U6s to U12s doesn't count btw..

Well considering I'm a girl...no.

And I meant taking him but physically hurting him. That's not footy to me. Play the ball. Don't go out of your way to physically hurt players.

:thumbsu: agree. Sydney were flying in the first ten games. Now they look over the hill. :rainbow:

Different rules this week Crowley you flog. Grand Finals are different ball games. Players don't care if they get rubbed out. Try your weak tactics this week and fingers crossed someone has the sense to break your jaw

Surely this applies both ways.

Why would Crowley bother tagging then? Just a few king hits here and there and that would sort it out. He is a physically bigger and stronger player than most of the Hawks mids.

Fair enough. No point me trying to convince you otherwise.

But just remember, shepherds are used to protect your teammate who has the ball. The bloke you're tying to 'hit/bump' wants to 'kill' your teammate who has the ball.

It's your duty to slam into that opposition player as hard as you can without making contact with his head. Hawthorn just cannot allow someone like Crowley to hang off Mitchell (or anyone else he tags) all day without some type of contact made. Soft bumps and half hearted shepherds are not enough on a beast like Crowley.

Hit him hard, hit him fair and make sure he knows he's in for a torrid day.:)

Sandilands is the biggest and heaviest player in the AFL. Why don't we just send him to kill everyone in the Hawthorn team before the first bounce? Nobody is a match for him and he will probably retire next week anyway.

Stupidest post yet in this thread, and that's saying something.

Almost as stupid as the time Brad Scott implied that Brent Harvey could beat Crowley up (who has 6 inches, 20 kg and about 40kg bench press over sooky Harvey).

I should also point out that not a single Crowley-hater has actually mentioned what Crowley's horrible tactics are - because there aren't any. He just beats his opponents with strength and discipline, week after week.

I think this is Freo's best chance of getting a flag. Next year you can put your money on Sandi, Pav, McPharlin and co getting injured and team structure will go out the window.

So... just like most of this season then. They missed 37 games between them this year.

A few Hawks players are likely to try to do exactly that this week though. He seems like someone who can deal with it though.

I don't understand all the resentment towards Crowley. He's just doing exactly what he has been told to do his entire career. I think he's a fantastic player. We all love the excitement of an attacking game, but the defensive side is pretty interesting too. When I see Crowley line up on someone, I'm intrigued to see how they handle it. It's a terrific measure of these so called "elite" midfielders. Can't handle a tag? Well, you're not as good as people say.

A taggers role isn't an easy one either. If it was, every team would have one who is capable of shutting down the best midfielders week after week. That's just not the case. Crowley has to deal with his own man, plus trying to find the ball himself, plus getting smacked every second from opposition players who are trying to look after their own guy. I don't envy his position.

I can't wait to see who he lines up on this weekend and how that battle will unfold.

it's not to say other key players won't get injured next year along with the old guys. like I said, no better chance to win a flag than now for Freo

yep, Hocking for us does a fair job most times for us but I'd kill for him to be a bit more like Crowley.

There is a difference between shepherding which is legal, and hitting a player because the poor diddums can't handle a tag...

For sure, and I bet Lyon and the older players have been stressing that to the younger guys all week.

Yer but its a Grand Final there is no next week so you risk getting a suspension for a few weeks knocking a guy out, look at Lynch in 2004, Mitchell tried to take out Ablett in 08.

Crowley is going to get hammered on Saturday.

'Hit' I mean bump...a very, very hard bump meant to rattle the inner core of the target's body.

You've never been smashed into by a brutal shepherd so I'm not going to go on about it and try and make things clear for you..

You can argue about what you were implying, but her point stands, people on this thread have been talking about hitting him, breaking his jaw etc., that's poor form.

I'd hope that if any weak individual that deliberately does this in the game has the scorn heaped upon them they'll deserve for being a mentally weak flog and having to go outside the rules, and have their reputations tarnished for good.

yeah, but they're idiots who have no idea or are just mucking around talking ####.

I myself am not talking about going outside the rules. I'm talking about controlled aggression and making a statement to Crowley and his other brutal buddy Mzungu that they themselves are in for a hard day also.

It's a grand final ffs....
