If this bloke is dropped for this weeks game against the Bulldogs I don’t think I will go to the footy again this year. IMO he was in our top three players on the weekend. He is the only one who will die for the club with his unbelieveable courage - running back into packs etc. If we drop him it sends the worst message to all the soft players in our team and I don’t think I want to be part of it anymore. I don’t care if the Bulldogs have a shortest forward line EVER he should be guaranteed a spot from now on, or at the very least for the next five rounds.

On a side note - I'm pretty down on AFL at the moment - if that game I watched on Sunday is typical of what we are going to see this year (and in the future) in terms of style then I'm not sure I can go on with AFL either - I NEVER thought I'd say that in my life. It's not that we lost it was everything about the game - short kicks, skill errors, flooding - it really was comical and I found myself just smiling in a hung over and tired state, it felt like I was at the funeral of a game I onced loved. The situation is absolutely dire.

You don't care if the Bulldogs have the smallest forward line ever? Sounds just like not caring that Carlton picked more tall forwards than we did tall defenders, are you on the selection pannel? ;)

If Rivers and one of Wheatley and Bizzell are ready for round 2 then one of Carroll and Ferguson will miss out, you can't justify picking so many talls agains the Bulldogs.

same here, i loved footy back in the 90's and up til about 2000. It was great fun for a day at the footy, you'd see a few good grabs, some ripper goals and crunching tackles, hell, you used to even see players taking CONTESTED MARKS: (Adj. a mark taken in a contest, not by yourself in 50 meters of space).. Now there is no contest, nothing fun, just about who has the best skills and can keep hold of the ball. Carltons chipping from side to side and backwards ********ed me off. The game is officially DYING

I agree totally, thats why on the changes thread, i chose Ferguson as one of the players to miss out.

IMO, Carroll is more valuable to us.

Rubbish. He could have had 7 or 8 kicked on him last week had Fevola kicked straight. Ferguson is a better spoiler, better in the packs and a better player all round.

Bit hard to stop a leading FF get the ball when his mates are running it out of the centre and putting it on his chest.

I dont recall seeing Carroll getting beaten in a 1 on 1, he is also much stronger than Ferguson, only question mark would be his fitness considering he cramped up at 3 quarter time.

I thought Fergy & the defence as a whole weren't the reason why we lost.

The midfield were totally useless! Slaughtered at the bounces like i'd never seen before, which allowed easy delivery to the Carlton forwards. Dumb delivery to our own forwards (who were there own wost enemy on occasions) on almost every single occasion. It was embarrassing.

I like Fergy & before dropping him I'd rather see him playing ruck back up or PJ's forward pocket role. He's very competitive overhead & a lot more mobile than PJ, Jamar or Holland. Had a go unlike at least 10 others.

Carroll was less effective but I can't blame him, midfield's fault almost entirely IMO.

I agree, Carroll is our only real fullback option.
