Yeah I mentioned last night that I can't see us going after Ryan O'Keefe, given we basically have his clone in Vegas. Shame for him that he had a couple of quiet games at the wrong time, I think we really missed him in the forward line.

Yes, and a clone that is considerably younger. Why would you go after ROK?

What do you mean alfy?, they are both high-flyers mate

Plus he has an unpredictable/'x factor' quality to him which is hard to match up on

he did some absolutely fantastic things during the season, huge grabs, lookaway handballs, great goals. If he continues to develop, in four years he could be in Geelong's top 7 I reckon.

I really rate him too but we don't get to see anything if our team is too stupid and dimwitted to pick him regularly.

Gamble is a great player, he kicked 4 goals against Bulldogs and nearly got best on ground. I think he will be a regular player in the seniors next year. With Hawkins and Gamble playing well and Mooney, stokes and chapman, We should be ok in the forward line.

I think that he has very good skills and great leap. I would like to see him do some hard work in the gym during the summer on his mid to upper body.

HF: Chapman/Mooney/S. Johnson
FF: Gamble/Hawkins/Stokes

Yep agree here. Mooney is a lead up forward, is better at leading and playing on in a wide arc to kick long on either foot. Obviously from the weekend his kicking at goal is somewhat dubious at times.

Hawkins IMO is our FF. In that position we need a hard hitter in the packs, would definitely stop Hodge floating back that is for sure. 105kg of Tommy pounding his back will change his mind, then his opponent can crumb and take the ball away. Lonners, whilst serviceable, is not a full forward. Against the good teams he really struggled, not many marks and very limited opportunities to do anything. I reaslise that he has kicked a few bags, but I don't think he suits our style. With Otto at FF in the GF we seemed to straighten up, kick long more often than not, therefore try to move it on quickly to dodge Hodge's efforts.

In future Gamble will work further up the ground, I'd probably swap Johnson and he on the odd occasion, as SJ is needed around goals not floating up onto the wing like on Saturday.

Stokes is just hanging in there. I'm unsure what is wrong with him, IMO he hasn't looked the same this year. Playing too responsive, not crumbing as much. Definitely trying to do a little bit too much though. Perfect example on the weekend when Jnr chipped him the ball and ran past, all Stokes had to do was handball it to him, instead he turned into 3 Hawk opponents.

I'm not trying to pick on their games at the weekend, but trying to highlight why I think this forward line is needed.

Don't forget he is not frightened to chase, tackle and be in and under as well, his memorable effort against Richmond is a prime example because he even won a Army Award nomination for it. He is a good prospect:thumbsu:
