If you believe rumours will be part of the Devon Smith, Kennedy trade and will be offloaded as a salary dump to Carlton..

He hasnt played much but what is the go with his injury, i read a serious ankle injury but they generally recover fairly well with intensive rehab so what can Carlton expect from him, will he just be tucked away in the VFL like Palmer was this year or will he slot in and any chance to return to close to his best?

Just like Daisy Thomas recovered fairly well from his ankle injury.

He's cooked but if it means guy get a good deal for the other guys it's a big win for the Blues.

According to rumours from the Carlton board ITK's Kelly was a done deal and SOS would be getting him for a second rounder.

Griffen came to us on a 4 year deal, Dogs paid 1mil of his contract, it was heavily front loaded because of this, they even paid 100k of his wages for this year. Griffen would not be a salary dump.

Thats not quite right at all, the main ITK did come out say it was GWS or Blues, but it was never stated what the actual trade would be...

He'll clog up Carlton's list much like Rhys Palmer. I don't see the point in Carlton going for a player like Griffen who's nearly 31.

I will be a condition of the Kennedy & Smith trade, muck like Palmer in the Pickett and Marchbank trade.

One player does not "clog up" a list.

We took Palmer to bring in Pickett and Marchbank in particular at a discount. We did the same the year prior to get Plowman.

If taking on another salary dump enables us to bring in Kennedy/Smith cheaper than what they otherwise would be then it's a no-brainer for us to do the same again.

Don't all GWS rejects go to Carlton?

Not all - sometimes we let other clubs enjoy the likes of Frost, Bugg and McKenna.

Well that's just a straight up lie. No credible rumour on our board stated that Kelly was confirmed coming to Carlton, let alone for a second rounder. And a month before he re-signed posters on our board were saying that he was staying.

As for the Griffin rumour, time will tell. None of us are excited about the possibility, but are happy to take him if we get a discount on high value talent. He'll no doubt spend the entire year sitting in the physio rooms rehabbing, and then will wander off into retirement.

He was getting around $800,000 a year at the dogs. His current contract is just a continuation of that contract. Are you telling me you paid roughly $500-700,000 to Griffin this year? Geez no wonder they want to dump him.

Would be good if Orange Agent could respond to this. Own your rubbish.

Agree this is nothing more than a lie.

Marc shmurph or whoever he you guys flock to said as much even after most were saying he was staying.

Griffens contract is 2.5mil over 4 years. It was heavily front loaded due to the Dogs chipping in he was paid 1mil in his first season. You do the math, its pretty easy to figure out what the remaining 3 years average out to.

Thats another lie. He said it wasn't 100% yet and that Kelly was still undecided. He never said he was certain to come to Carlton or that we'd get him for a second round pick.

As for the Griffin contract, if your unsubstantiated claims are correct (a dubious at best assumption since you've proven yourself a liar twice already) then with the recent pay increase Griffin will get paid $1.2 million over the next two years ($600,000 a year). That's a lot of money sitting in the physio room for a club with a tight salary cap like GWS.

Griffs contract expires at the end of 2018. Unless Carlton want to give him more years why on earth would he want to go there?

Gws fans like to make up figures about what the bulldogs were/are chipping in for Griffen's contract to make thenselves feel better for poaching him in return for one of their pariahs.

Here come the seagulls.

It has emerged that the Bulldogs will cover a staggering $800,000 of Griffen's 2015 pay packet as part of the extraordinary exit agreement reached with Greater Western Sydney, where Griffen requested to go.

Desperate to sign the apparently unavailable Tom Boyd from GWS, the club not only traded away its first draft pick to snare the promising young forward on a massive seven-year deal, but also agreed to cover $900,000 of Griffen's four-year Giants contract.

The 27-year-old joined the Giants under a front-loaded deal because under league rules the Bulldogs could not cover 100 per cent of Griffen's contract. He will earn close to $1million next season and about $1.5million over 2016, '17 and '18.

A further $100,000 will be paid to Griffen by the Bulldogs in 2017, his third season with the Giants.
