wasn't Neil his younger brother?
Yep, RLS was a gun, all-Australian in 1985 back when they weren't handed out wully-nully.

wasn't Neil his younger brother?
from what i have seen, seems to be a pretty smart footballer. no one particularly outstanding quality but gets a lot of it and kicks goals. pretty sure he did some damage to his knee towards the end of the season

Ryan Lester-Smith
Club: East Fremantle (WA)
D.O.B.: 19.6.92
Height: 189cm
Weight: 84kg
Ross said he is going Pav, Griffen/Sandi, Clarke up forward next year. Then the little blokes. Wonder if it will actually happen.seems to me we're targetting lots of smaller forwards??
Gameplan shift?? Could be a fair idea, but i dont get it at present, u guess Lake couldnt have played on Walters ...

not TOOO short although not big enough kpp, a lot like Sylvia. Who knows what we're doing.
Still a lot of water to go under the bridge yet then. Its a potential farther son rookie nomination. If no one drafts him in the national draft Freo are guaranteed to be able to rookie draft him. Costing nothing. Won all of the young player awards in the WAFL this year. East Freo would have won the Foxtel Cup if he had played the final but did a medial (I think) the week earlier. Moves and plays just like Neil but is bigger.
If you're good on the lead you can make it at that height... that's 1cm shorter than Darling and 1cm taller than Mayne isn't it?
Not tall enough to be a midfielderonly 189cm though, not exactly what we're looking for
Putting this out there.
Ryan Lester-Smith from East Fremantle. Went down with an injury a month ago, possibly stopped any momentum EF had until their last gasp win over Claremont in Rd 24.
16 games for 43 goals this year. All multiples except 2 games with 0. He is very, very quick. Needs a bit of polish, but I really like this kid. Would be good somewhere that needs runners (Hawthorn anyone?). Crazy around goals. 39 tackles. Lots of defensive pressure around goals. Haven't seen too much talk about him, will possibly win the Football Budget's Rising Star. Came 7th in the goalkicking, but may have finished top 5 (maybe top 3 if lucky) if he wasn't injured. All disposals between 10-20 mostly 13 and 14, but makes them count.
Anyone else see him as maybe a rookie?
Wonder if Mayne could play on a wing?yer but, we got Mayne, thing is he's not exactly what we're after, even if he's good enough. Tactics could've change or a small forward could even be up for trade??
From the D&T board

Rookie though, not much risk, high reward if it pays off.
dont disagree with it, dont know much about the kid. Would be keen to know the reason we're after sylvia and him as medium forwards though??
He's very much a similar recruit to Duffy. Ross obviously wants more tall, goal scoring forwards on the list.
