I don't recall he was going forward. I thought he was promised a settled role in defence. Richmond's problems were they needed height both back and forward. He gives it to them back down.

I think you're being harsh about what he was supposed to do versus what he is actually doing.

If he's pulling down 8 to 12 contested marks in the backline every game no coach would care what he was doing. That kind of stat gives opposition coaches the heebie-jeebies.

Most contested marks pulled down in a game since 2000 was 10, by King Carey. Gutless Graham averages 1.5 contested marks per game this year, less than both Tarrant and Pav.

Here's a thought. Let's not trade Murphy. Let the new coach, whoever it is, put him at full forward and leave him there. I can't bear the thought of watching him kick 80 next for the bullies or even worse, the Eagles.

Yes! A new coach could really do the trick.

I really like Murphy. I think he's the perfect compliment to Pavlich, better than Tarrant. His development has been the invisible cost of the Tarrant trade. He has all the physical attributes and the skills. "Confidence" player, maybe, but all young talls are.

The problem with Murphy as a compliment for Pavlich is that he doesn't take enough marks or get enough possesions, which is fine if your role is more the stay at home FF. The result was that we saw Pavlich targetted with multiple defenders last year. Tarrant on the other hand gets heaps of both so requires a similar player(s) to man up on him. Plenty of room for all three.

Of Spud & Taz you'd probably be more worried (as oppostion coach) about Spud getting it inside 50 due to his conversion rate. Could be he takes the second best tall defender in which case Taz should get leather poisoning once they are all in together. He (Taz) just needs to practice giving it to Jeff. I think it's been CC's intention all along to play the 3 talls together, just circumstance hasn't allowed it yet. If Murph hits the ground running we will have an awesome forward line happening.

This week Pavlich will get the second best tall defender.

He'll also get the first best.

I'm assuming that Spud ins't playing at his best at the moment. He'll get plenty of ball with time.

while he didn't set the world on fire, his body language was excellent and he worked very hard off the ball. Needs another week or 2 to find the pace of the game and where to position himself. I really really really hope they don't drop him for Tarrant. Gilmoure was excellent too deserves another go.

Parker and Matt Carr were good too, and Schammer was okay. If Sandilands comes back in, who goes out for him and Tarrant if you retain Crappy Gilmore?

Players like Gilmore, Parker, Macca and to a lesser extent Murphy (because he was barely on the ground) were crap until we started dominating. Mundy wasn't great either.

Parker's man only had a handful of possessions though, and wasn't sighted in the first term when they controlled the game.

That's the problem isn't it. No doubt Gilmoure will give way for Sandi just thought he played one of his better games I've seen.
Tarrant will come back too of course, I would just prefer that it not be at the expense of Murph. If it was up to me I would drop Soloman & Parker for Tarrant & Sandi. We have heaps of defenders and Farmers presence takes away the need for another defensive forward.

There is no way you'd drop Solomon and keep Gilmore surely. Solomon was fantastic. Sandilands for Gilmore is a no-brainer. For Tarrant I would look at a defender, and would probably consider eiter Parker or Thornton, and I would keep Murphy for another week.

I would also like the forward line to be a little more predictable, leaving Murphy at FF, even though the variety worked really well today. With our full contingent of forwards available it has in-built unpredictability, madness and class.

Yes but he turned it over a few times and while his direct opponent didn't fill up the stat sheet, there were some spoils I thought he should have maybe got to. I know our defence has sucked last few weeks but I get extra nervous when Parker is there.

I just like the way Gilmoure went about it today. He really tried his heart out and made some great clearances from the centre when was in the ruck. He gets so much cr#@p on these boards it's nice to be able to give him some praise. Thinking about it though I don't really know what you would do with him with Sandy back. I'm a bit blind with Soloman for some reason, watching the replay he's going ok.

We lost nothing when Gilmore went into the ruck. In fact he won a few clearances himself.

Between he and Warnock our mobile big man dept looked pretty good.

I cant see any reason for Sandi to fly across the country to play on the smaller SCG if he isnt bursting out of his skin to play.

If he needs another week give it to him no hesitation.

Maybe i'm only remembering parts of the game rather than Gilmores entire effort, but it seemed he was neutralising the ruck contests by simply jumping into the other ruckman. Was lucky not to give away a few frees.

I don't rate his ruckwork - but his crumbing off his own work was actually quite impressive got a few clearances like that. Good game by him today, hard to know what he'd have to do to keep his spot regularly - even if he plays well in the ruck he'll always be on the sidelines if sandi and warnock are available.

Parker's first two kicks were shockers, pretty sure his disposal was good for the rest of the game. It was a poor decision to play him, but I think he was okay. Will be interesting to see if he lines up next week.
