There is no way you'd drop Solomon and keep Gilmore surely. Solomon was fantastic. Sandilands for Gilmore is a no-brainer. For Tarrant I would look at a defender, and would probably consider eiter Parker or Thornton, and I would keep Murphy for another week.

I would also like the forward line to be a little more predictable, leaving Murphy at FF, even though the variety worked really well today. With our full contingent of forwards available it has in-built unpredictability, madness and class.

Parker or Mundy for mine.
I thought potato did some very good stuff.

Parker's first two kicks were shockers, pretty sure his disposal was good for the rest of the game. It was a poor decision to play him, but I think he was okay. Will be interesting to see if he lines up next week.

.

I was ready to shoot him by quarter time...

It is interesting how Farmer made some fumbles ( no comments ), Schammer showed he needs some more game time under his belt ( everyone cuts him slack ), Parker has an ordinary first quarter ( the supporters jump on him !!!!! ).

He lacked confidence but got better as the game went on, that is a good sign. His did his job very well and it allowed Thornton to go forward.

As for Soloman, anyone who thinks he is in line for dropping, are total dills. He was superb today, and he and Macca were at the coalface doing their usual thankless task of pushing the team when they dropprd off the pace.

I think it's because people don't like to be proven wrong. Most of us wrote off Parker earlier in the year, so it is easy to bag him. The same applies to Connolly. Most supporters made up their mind on him one way or another last year, and were quick to jump on him this year to say "I told you so".

Thanks for those comments, I am just amazed that a legend of the club has a bad quarter and hits back with 3 very solid quarters but is still bagged.

He did his job by absolutely blanketing his opponent plus kicks a goal, some supporters are darn hard to please.

He got outmarked a few times, including 1 in the goal square. He also looked nervous 1 on 1, and as mentioned, the field kicking, plus decision making was a bit average.

Im not on the Parker hate wagon, but especially at the start, he looked a bit disinterested.

What about his Hasle-Cable-Farmer-esque handball out to a running Peter Bell who kicked a goal.

What about his mark and goal. Parker was serviceable. He is still one of our best shut down defenders. You need 3-4 shut down defenders while the rest can be creative.

For every Roger Hayden in the team you need a Shane Parker.

Loved Parker's game today.

CC vision of a team of defenders is coming to fruition. Even the defenders are floating forward and kicking goals. Great to see. Revolutionary coaching :) :thumbsu:

Farmer made like 2-3 fumbles, normally par for the couse with a farmer game :)

Schummer did some gut busting runs that didn't show on tv... i reckon he had a decent game, hes a trier, and hes quick. We need him in the team.

Connolly deserves every blast he's gotten from supporters this year. We have under-performed. Plain and simple. The responsibility for that I'm afraid rests with the Head Coach.

It's easy when the opposition don't want to man up and we are cherry-picking forward.

I think yesterday's game is a pretty hard one to take anything out of in regards to form. When a ruck combination of Warnock and Gilmore can dominate and Matthew Carr looks like a superstar, you know you're not playing against much opposition.

If Sandi is fit he will be back - Sydney have one of the best ruck combinations in the league, and they love stoppages. At best Warnock and Gilmore may provide a contest, but they don't have the body strength or nous to match it with Everitt or Jolly.

Taz will come straight back in too - I think he will move up the ground a little and concentrate on delivering the ball into Pav, Murphy, Des and Wiz - no need for him to be taking set shots anymore.

I'd be surprised to see Parker out after one game, but I'm not sure who else can make way for Taz. (I'm sure there will be an injury or a date with the MRP to take of that for us though :p)

You either have Parker or Thornton, you can't have both.

It was said to me before the game that Parker may have been brought into the team as a "blanket" defender because the team had alot of run from the backline, but missed a close defender. The finger was pointed at Thornton as the person in the firing line.

I've always been impressed with Connolly's willingness to accept the knives in the back, and share the praise around.

The biggest change to the team this week was Farmer and Schammer back.

Is RIggio a genuine midfield prospect? We don't need any more HBFs. I've been impressed with what I saw in the preseason, but he hasn't cracked a game for ages. You'd have to throw in a decent pick I would have thought.

I cant stand Murphy this year, just doesnt seem to have the hunger to play AFL football. Wish Campbell wasnt injured and he was playing, goes hard at every contest. Cant wait to see us trade Murphy at the end of the year.

Agree. He has cracked the s..ts this year. He got dropped for the weekend and most other players would have gone back to the WAFL and shown the match commitee they deserved to be back in the 22 but he had a shocker, looked like he couldnt be bothered.

Trade to Bulldogs for Ray

At North Ballarat, he is being tryed as a midfielder but the rumours are that he wants to go home.

Is a real hard nut and plays above his weight. im sure a pick and riggio for murphy can be negotiated.

If ladder position were to stay the same, and the Roos got pick 11 or so, and you guys got pick 6 or so, would you consider swapping our 1st, 2nd and maybe 3rd round picks, for your 2nd, 3rd and maybe 4th round picks and Murphy. I think it would be a fair trade.

No way - Murphy is worth more than a couple of spots in the draft. If you want him, put up a damn good young player - he is a KPP, they take time to develop and he is under contract. If Pav does go, there is no way Murphy will be going anywhere.

Sounds like a fair trade to me, that is if things go the right way for Fremantle in the players in which re-sign. To come out of it with 2 first round draft picks and still have a 2nd and 3rd round pick would hopefully net us a few useful midfielders

If Pavlich does stay i would think Murphy may be moved on. At the moment we have a list capable of challenging for the flag. Although at the moment we are playing some pretty uninspired football.

We currently have Pavlich, Campbell and Tarrant to use down forward as well as the pinch hitters in Headland, Mundy, McPharlin, Johnson. I think Murphy could be used to trade for quality midfielders. We should trade to get a pick to grab Masten in the draft, then grab Palmer with the next pick.
