And where will you be when it doesn't happen?

O'Keefe taking a paycut isn't the only thing stopping him getting to Hawthorn, We do have to find a suitable trade with Sydney, thats the biggest obstacle.

He has agreed to come to Hawthorn and with a paycut, so really you're the only one looking like a nob. :) :thumbsu:

Thumbs up to you (WTF?) too *******.

Could've sworn it was the Hawks who came out and said O'Keefe's pay was too high, even though the other clubs had already said the same _ucking thing.

You must be a pirate, as you can only see out of one eye.

Just thinking about it.. How would O'Keefe fit into Hawthorn's forward line? Williams is the lead up forward there already and they've got the twin towers up there. So i dunno if he's gonna be given the role he likes to play

And it's not September any more :

Wow, *******.........thats a reall winner, its up there with this embarrassing call of yours...Hilarious - the Hawks must think they can do it all. They announce their intention to pursue O'Keefe when others had backed away from due to his price. How they say "Oooh ... we can't afford to pay you that".

Wow, we said that like other clubs........we shouldn't go after him and try and negotiate a reduce in pay, Gees whats the point... oh yes he has indicated he wants to come to Hawthorn and will take a paycut. I just don't know why we bothered. :thumbsu:

oh dear.. :o

Well he is an elite runner ,strong powerfull leads with a great set of hands, having him floating from the half forward line through the wing and into our backline as a lead up link up man will free up the pressure on Bateman, we also have the option of playing him closer to goal, with Williams playing as the lead up Half forward flanker.

I'll quote this one too - good stuff :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Where are the mods to red-card this guy? Seriously, on any board this would be considered unacceptable behaviour from a guest.

Wouldn't be the first time for Dipsh*t.
He can't spell Wiener either, which is actually German for "Viennese" but sometimes gets used in Germany to describe the sausage in a hotdog.
Has he been checking out your package Squizzy, going by his homepage he enjoys group sex with Richmond supporters.

It's a bit hard to miss :

That's me at the doorway. Amazing that people would travel for miles just to gawk at someone's "weener".

I just figured there was a bit of "Lucy in the sky with Diamonds" going on with the yellow submarine reference. He and Chris Pelchen must have split one.

I'm not the biggest fan of Sydney, but when a supporter comes out with a comment like that towards Carlton, I instantly gain a lot more respect for the club!:D:D:D
... one of their supporters anyway.

You don't say  :

HAWKS NOT CLOSE ON O’KEEFE

Friday, October 10th, 2008 at 1:28 pm BY ANDREW MAHONY

Hawthorn were never close to signing Sydney Swans forward Ryan O’Keefe according to Hawks personnel manager Chris Pelchen.

Speaking at the end of a largely uneventful trade week, Pelchen said the Hawks read with interest media reports about O’Keefe’s wage demands throughout the week.

Asked if the Hawks were worried some of their senior players would be unhappy with O’Keefe’s suspected wage packet, Pelchen said the club had kept in contact with its leadership group and that the reports of the money offered to O’Keefe were off the mark.

He said it was always in Hawthorn’s thoughts to guarantee the ‘integrity of total player payments (TPP)’ put in place by the Hawks.

Would've thought O'Keefe would b a great fit for us,
the 3rd fwd in a role (but tougher) than Charlie should have filled for himself.

I'm still a fan of Charlie tho, & think R.O'K would supplement him rather than
replace him. I firmly believe we need to get more goals out of our flankers etc. Even Schneider hasnt really done that well there.

Why are we the only club that doesnt have goal kicking midfielders?
Harvey (RIP), Hayes, Ball & even Dal Santo (with the silkiest of skills)
dont kick many! I think X-man should b stationed at HFF & left there & trained to reg kick a few.

At this point looks like Swans will retain him
or Hawks will swoop,
so it's all a bit rhetorical...

I've got hopes for McEvoy as a forward in 2009.

If Goose and Baker return, and Ray comes up as a half-back, we might find Sam F or BJ up forward regularly which gives us very good options.

Schneider and Milne would benefit from in-form talls, as it encourages the team to kick longer and the better forwards attract their opponents to the contest.

Noticed Scneids in a sling (B&F photo).

He would have been a good fit for lots of teams, but not at the combined cost he/Sydney were asking.
Be interesting to see if he goes into the pre-season.
If so there will be no trade of players/draft picks, just the money and the contract.
The Hawks probably came up with a suitable trade for Sydney, but not the money for O'Keefe.
( He's been watching Jerry Maguire obiously ).

Makes sense why some Hawthorn fans were overly sensitive (as well as doubting the Squizz). They were just following the leader :

"Hawks hit back over O'Keefe
Michael Gleeson | October 22, 2008
If the recent trade week alone did not completely evince the level of simmering anger and upset between Sydney and Hawthorn, then the aftermath of the recent week of stalled negotiation certainly has.
The Hawks were seething yesterday at Swans coach Paul Roos' suggestion upon the re-signing of Ryan O'Keefe that Hawthorn had been a mischievous time-waster in the trade process.
Roos said Hawthorn had never been in the mix for O'Keefe, had never made him a contract offer and the club had been playing games.
Hawthorn chief executive Ian Robson took the unprecedented step — for Hawthorn — of posting a terse response to Roos' claims on the club website.
Robson insisted the club's interest in O'Keefe had been genuine and that a written offer had been put to O'Keefe during the trade week.
O'Keefe had rejected that offer but Robson said the player remained sufficiently interested in the Hawks to meet him and coach Alastair Clarkson in Sydney the following day.
Ultimately, another club — Carlton — made a superior financial offer for O'Keefe and the club had been knocked out of the running.
"The Hawthorn Football Club conducted itself with professionalism and integrity throughout the 2008 AFL trade period," Robson said.
The written response was restrained but it is believed the club was privately infuriated with the Swans coach's comments.
The Hawks had been upset during trade week at the suggestion they had put forward a list of untouchable players in haggling over a suitable exchange for O'Keefe. The club said at the time there was no such list but that Sydney had asked about a range of players.
Negotiations between the clubs have not gone well in recent years."

Yeah - making a lowball offer is professional, not opportunistic!
