Ryan O'Keefe

C'mon guys - why wouldn't O'Keefe want to go to a classy outfit like the blues? He could get slapped around by Fev's wanger, or involved in corruption - the possibilities are endless!!!

Not an expert in spelling I can see. Hope your not in charge of making the Carlton cheer squad banners or your team will have no chance.

How can you even think St Kilda are in contention to secure anyones services, they have nothing to give and who would even contemplate going to this club with seemingly a poor future ahead of them! Premiership is a long time coming. Harsh... but fair.

Im not a saints fan, but carlton cannot talk they've spent the last 5 or 6 years rebuilding and they havent even made the top 8! enjoy your wooden spoons!

I'm not the biggest fan of Sydney, but when a supporter comes out with a comment like that towards Carlton, I instantly gain a lot more respect for the club!:D:D:D

A super rules team could kick 20 goals against the Carlton defence. It's a rabble.

Well the sort of deal they are talking about with O Keefe means they are on track to max out their salary cap -- again.
I don't really understand it, they tank to get the draft picks and then trade them on older players. I would have thought the Blues already had good talent in the midfield!

Dont wont him 2 years ago no problem great footballer, getting on a bit now how would he go on the fast surface of td,were the scg is not has quick and has is problems of injuries 600k forget it.

One word - Hamill.

Don't get me wrong, I really loved Sammy. But we all know he had that MOMENTOUS contract that seemed to go on forever, and that that really cost the club. The idea of making the same decision with another half-forward, sheesh... ugly.

Don't forget we probably had one of the worst medical staff at that time and because of that it cut sammy's carreer prematurely.

O'Keefe is still an elite player and can be in my opinion at least for another 2-3 yrs. Half forwards of his calibre don't grow on trees.

However in saying that I do agree that his price tag is a worry

Unlike Hamill, O'Keefe isn't injury prone. He's missed one game in about four years.

He'll remain at the Swans IMO now that Kerr is off the table. There's no need for us to trade him. I'm sure the club will meet his financial requirements.

His desired contract's the knock-out blow for me. He may be great, he may be injury free, but 600K and 4 years is too much.

It's a shame, I'd love it if we could snag him. The Ross connection and the chance to stick it up to Carlton should play in our favour.

Hilarious - the Hawks must think they can do it all. They announce their intention to pursue O'Keefe when others had backed away from due to his price. How they say "Oooh ... we can't afford to pay you that".

All you can do is make an offer, Whats the worse than can happen, he can say No. Please.. Its quite obvious you have never been in sales.
Eitherway it looks like its working, the media are reporting he is going to take a pay cut to come to Hawthorn, lets just wait and see how it all pans out :) :thumbsu:

HAWTHORN looks certain to add Sydney's Ryan O'Keefe to its star-studded forward line.

The 27-year-old Swan is determined to play for the Hawks and the premiers need only to satisfy the Swans to secure him.

After discussions late on Tuesday, O'Keefe agreed to play for the Hawks on a deal less than his Swans contract.
