Is he aware Ryder's out? Fletch on a wing will end his career.

Like to see Dempsey and Jetta play through mid this week. Give Angus a defensive midfield role. If he can't do this role it's time to look at trading him.

david king is one of the few journos i respect, because of the debacle that is channel 7.
Seems to have us worked out, can challenge with a fit and firing list, but this season the focus was always going to be 2013 and beyond.
the one thing i did notice in that chat was he mentioned that other health and fitness experts were denouncing the weapon, can anyone verify this?
They mentioned it on MMM once, and billy's response was basically 'it worked for geelong' and they just moved on

Far from the worst idea I've heard. Have been keen on Ryder on the wing for a long time, the guy has an engine and is a ridiculously talented all-round player. If you don't want him "stuck" down forward, just have him in the game the whole time, the wing is perfect, who exactly is supposed to be able to match up on him?

As for Fletch, I feel he's an under-utilized attacking weapon, and in a pinch-hitting role thought he should be thrown forward more for a quarter etc... Never really thought about him on the wing though, I guess him taking and delivering the ball inside 50 would be a real weapon, but it does hurt our backline obviously. Not opposed to seeing it, but not disappointed if I didn't.

Fletcher back, Ryder Ruck/forward I reckon is the best plan for those two, moving them to the wing will either not work or leave holes in other areas on the ground.

We pretty much need more Stanton's and zakas.. not fullbacks on the wing...

I dunno what everyone else thinks about this, but my opinion is that Ryder wouldn't find the ball and Fletcher would run out of gas very quickly and we would miss him in defence. Plus Ryder is of course injured. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised but I haven't seen anything from either of these guys to make me think that those moves are a good idea.

Aside from the throw-away line, the actual bulk of the article I thought made pretty good reading

All I want to see is something new, something different that can maybe re-ignite or challenge the Hawks to alter their plans," the Fox Footy tactics guru said
"I'd like to see them throw something different, if they don't, I think we'll accept the result will be what it will be."
Despite recent losses, King remains confident Essendon is on the right track to September glory.
"The real win for Essendon is another competitive hit out with a vision for the future, currently I don't believe they have the artillery to match the Hawks," King said.
"They've been a victim of a season of setbacks and I think this will hold them in good stead regarding the base they have set themselves in 2012 for a genuine premiership tilt in 2013-14."
I think there's a fair bit in that.
We've been asking Stanton to play Zaha's role; Howlett to play Hocking's; etc etc and it really hasn't come off.

Heppell looks a good thing in there, but other than that, just about every other midfielder isn't coping as well as they were 4 weeks ago. Perhaps a bit of a re-think is required.

We successfully re-jigged for Geelong last year, came out with Melksham & Heppell on ball, rather than the older heads & staid game plan we had been running, and absolutely caught them on the hop.
I imagine the Hawks would be planning for Heppell on ball, not sure what else we could try.

Crameri to a wing?
Dempsey further up?
Monfries tagging?
Browne?
Kav?

D. King is fast becoming one of the most annoying people in football. He continually makes outlandish statements just to get a reaction. He is trying to build his media career up but is doing in in the wrong way.
