Naitanui like Hurley, I would not pick anyone in their respective positions before them going forward, I just think these 2 are destined to be all time greats.
Naitanui as a Ruckman standout like dogballs, like Hurley as a KPP.

Hope you are right.

Hurley looks fantastic, sure he can't commando roll like Darling but just has all the tools and sureness about himself to be a gun KPF.

Damn the 2008 draft seems good at this early stage.

Have they?

Statistically their seasons have been pretty much equal.
I think it's a fair comment about Ryder's last couple of months - has been fantastic since Geelong, rd 15. Statistically, as in reality, Ryder did nothing for a solid month roughly mid-season.

Natanui's had a more even, consistent season and trumps him for ruck stats.
But, of course, part of that's role. Ryder's neer going to rack up hitouts when he's FF & 3rd in line to ruck or playing on Trav Cloke.

I've no doubt NicNat will be AA first. He's been great and will be in the best handful of rucks going around within 2 years.
But rating Ryder purely on ruck stats isn't truly representing him IMHO.

Ryder did 'nothing' (was actually still handy, for someone learning a key role) for the period of games in which we played three ruckmen, and he was mostly forward.

Since we went back to two rucks and he's played there more often he has done very well, statistically.

Actually, since Essendon moved back to two rucks Ryder has outperformed Naitanui in regards to touches, hitouts and goals.

Nick is a younger player, though. By two whole years. That's a fair difference at such young ages (23 and 21).

At one point the poll was 2-1 Ryder.

Since about mid season, perception of NN has changed quite a bit with us being recognized as contenders.

If the poll was re-done right now i would say 80%+ would say Naitanui.
Ryder is that far off it is not funny.
