The emphasis here is on numbers.

You're not a 'strong club' simply because you post the most.

Hallelujah glory be.

Fact: spammers get bored quicker.

The Demons ranked 3rd in total posts for S24 with 6225 and were very consistent, only dropping below 300 thrice. Their average poster number of 18.31 posters every week was comfortably best in the league, as was their quantity of contributing posters at 17. The inverse of this is that they have the fewest inactive players.

However, their number of active players (>20 ppw), at 7, was only 5th best, and they were fairly invisible outside match threads.

Needs: A figurehead. Some one to take them out of their little village and into the big city.

Verdict: Top 2
Naturally Elton's highest posting game was against me and my fellow Dragons!

Agreed. Hence the Demon's rating of top 2.
Doesn't somebody do something like this thread, but grades each player on the list to come to an overall ranking?
That would be another way of doing it. The end result would be fairly similar, I suspect...

Depends on what the grading system is based on. To me, 1 poster posting 10 times a week of pure on topic magic in a 'weak' numbers posting team would be more valuable than 5 off topic posters posting 50 times a week. Yet to others that 1 poster is dull and boring and the frequent posting is what they seek.

Probably. Opinions are very subjective - I'd rank you ahead of Dawn2Dusk, for example, but Haro wouldn't.

It is possible to have quality AND quantity though, yes? Not every 50+ post player is a spammer...

To an extent. Agree that posting numbers give no indication of what is a strong posting unit because that depends entirely on quality of content. It can give an indication of who the weak clubs are however.

If you've got 15 posters posting 50+ every week and it's all trash then you ain't a strong club. But if you've got 15 posters posting barely anything at all each week then your club is in a bit of strife.

Derided forever as retired and senile, the Roys surged in S24. They had the 4th-highest number of posts at 6083, the 3rd highest number of regular contributors (>%5ppg) with 13 and the =3rd highest number of active players (>20ppg) with 8.

They had 15.8 posters per week on average, ranking them 3rd and the equal-highest number of posters with a +50 average.

14 inactive posters was =5th, and they had the highest poster in the league.

Needs: Maturity. Amazingly, the "old guys" rise was led by rookies, like Matt_352, xenxen and Stoods, who all improved markedly as the season wwent on and need to continue to develop

Verdict: Top 4

It's a comparison. And every team would take a 100 post/game rookie over an inactive former superstar 100% of the time.

The league doesn't exist without posting. It will improve if the weaker clubs aspire to raise themselves up to the stronger club levels, not by tearing the best down

That depends on the rookie, however, I'd be very hesitant to recruit anyone who'd post 100+ times a match thread as it's off putting as ****.

It does depend on your opponent, but 20-60 posts per game is the sweet spot; anything more comes off as just unnecessary spam. Those who value raw post numbers are really doing this league wrong.

I would love to read 100 Golumless posts a match thread.

You are certainly in a very exclusive club to be wanting that.

I don't even want to read 100 of my posts a week.

I'll never agree with you on this. A strong club will develop those rookies into quality contributors. Cloud_ started out as a 100 post spammer...

There are very few who can do it consistently without spamming ;)

For those to develop into the shining lights of the league, they need to learn to value their posts. Personally, I'd rather just poach them after another club has gone through that growing pain, and not have to put up with that myself.

That wasn't meant to be taken in a literal sense. I like seeing good posters post more was my point.

The concept that there's some sort of relationship between quality and quantity, and that X amount of posts is ideal I find bemusing. If someone hypothetically can be entertaining over the span of 100 posts in a single match thread I'd say go for it. I wouldn't say they've posted worse because they've exceeded some kind of arbitrary post range. Granted most now are incapable of staying entertaining for 100 posts, but that doesn't mean it will always be impossible.

The once-powerful Furies slipped badly in S24. One of only 3 clubs to fail to hit 3000 posts, only 2 posters hit the watershed 20 ppw mark and despite 23 of the 28 players who appeared on the list posting at least once, they had 16 posters ranked as inactive, equal 3rd highest in the league. The retirement of captain Sterge leaves a leadership vaccuum which may need to be filled by recycled former club leaders.

They only recorded 300 posts once, second worst in the comp. Their average number of posters each week was not too bad at 15.13, 6th overall, but they left too much to to few, who did too little.

Needs: Vibrant, fresh leadership, and to fish in the wide ocean

Verdict: Bottom 4
Jesus Sterge , glad you replaced me at full forward with the activity powerhouse Wacky Tiger . You sure got a lot out of those extra nine posts he made! ;)

You can't call me a spammer AB. I spammed for 5 weeks when I was a rookie. You never stopped. :shoutyoldman:

Mount Buller continually rated one of the better posting teams over the last 4-5 seasons but cant shake the 'inactive, boring' tag given to us about 5-6 season ago.

eth, SP and VD have continued to lead the way.

I'd go a washed up legend over a spammer tbh.

Check out Matt_352 's numbers. Fell off a cliff in Rd 10, along with the rest of the Roys.

It happens every season. Post quantity should never be the measure of a side. The real sweet spot is just up of middle which is why I'm very pleased with our numbers. There's always room to improve for any side but you're less likely to fall off a cliff at the same time.
