Bombers 9th, 7-7-1, 93.97% vs Furies 4th, 8-7, 105.10%

A critical clash for both teams, moreso the Bombers who look to book a last-minute finals berth. Should they salute in this game, they will overtake the Furies on the ladder, and 9th spot will be determined by other results. The Bombers can finish as high as 4th if ALL of the Demons, Dragons, Gumbies and Warriors lose and they win; realistically, they should be satisfied with a season-extending victory to at least keep their premiership defence alive. The Furies occupy 4th spot, and a win should sew up the double chance because of their strong percentage, but a loss will drop them into an elimination final and leave Sterge’s career on a knife’s edge. A loss could drop them out of the 8 altogether, if ALL of the Demons, Dragons, Gumbies and Warriors win, but this is also unlikely.

Last time they met:
S24 R5: Fighting Furies 15.12 (102) defeated Baghdad Bombers 10.14 (74)

Players to watch:

Bombers: miggs – Has had a dominant season, but has fallen foul of the leadership and may be on the move again at season’s end

KohPhi – The best ruckman in the league, buoyant from kicking the last- minute matchwinner last week to keep the Bombers alive, and fuelled by dumplings

Furies: Sterge – Furies skipper who has announced his retirement at season’s end. Has dominated at ruck-rover all season and will be hard to stop.

Wacky Tiger – Sits within striking distance of Blacky in the Fred Medal race, and could leap to the front with a big bag here to become the first player to win the Big Three – EKA, Mobbs and Fred

Tip: Furies to eliminate the Bombers, with Dawn to Dark going ballistic and nuking his account

I hear whispers that this may be the last game for the Bombers for club legend, Premiership skipper and 4 time premiership player ant555

Hope you give him an appropriate send off, HaroLad

No better send off than ensuring he becomes a 5 time premiership player...
