I haven't started yet .....hold your motors a bit big fella

Commentary starts tonight, but maybe after your 8pm cocoa & sleeptime
Please re-read when you've actually posted something.

Spamming used to be cool and fresh back in the mid teens seasons, but now it's just old and stale and done to death. Find a new shtick you inbreads.

Speaking of, is Caz still here?

I'm gonna chime in here. There's engaging and then there's nonsense. When the Gumbies played the Bombers the best part of the week was when Tony Lynn 15, beez, Ned Ryerson, yourself and myself were about. It was active, engaging, witty and humourous without the bullshit that usually accompanies a Bombers thread. The fact is the Bombers have some of the league's best posters. Unfortunately, they have some of the worst as well. Active is better than inactive but active =/= good. Look at the Roys as a example of an active team that are enjoyable to post against.

I understand how important chemistry is to a team and you guys have that but I stand by my point earlier in the season that the Bombers are two distinct teams rolled into one. One team is active, witty and very enjoyable to post against. The other spams up a match thread with utter nonsense.

You took it as a barb at you. It clearly isn't, it's a barb at the style (which your team currently employs).

There was a thread a few seasons back where the Furies went absolutely apeshit!! I think it was Grockadoc that pposted over 1000 times.
They copped massive amounts of heat for it.

But you keep playing the victim and think we're going at the club. Ignorance is bliss eh.

I had a real long thought about this on the morning trip into work today... taking out the captain's refusal to absorb key points (proof please, not like the league at wide has observed this stuff over the course of 15 seasons or so) my main focus was my concern for current posters putting up with mass posting and how many we lose over time.

The other concern has to be those engaging in the practice as well. Unfortunately Antonio became the poster boy for this discussion which is by proxy why the Bombers also became a focal point and I hope this discussion doesn't have a negative affect as it occurred to me this morning, and I racked my brains on this, the practice of mass posting is never sustainable and I can't think of one person that posted in that style that is still here today doing the same thing, after one or two seasons of it. There was a bloke a couple of seasons back - Matt and some numbers - who copped it really bad, especially in the surveys etc and was never seen again (unless he changed his name) which is the other side effect. I don't read Antonio as somebody that would absorb too much aimed at him but I hope we're all mindful not to cross any lines in the opposite direction.

Inbreads?

Did you piss off mid season to start a bakery?

I’ve absorbed plenty, my old friend.

Yeah appreciate that .....for the record, no-one accused me of spamming this season .....didn't hit manangatang 's fabled 14% .....now this is a first & I've received no recognition
To be fair, my 14% doesn't really work on Bombers match threads - this is something I've learned as I've gone along :p .

You would be in the upper percentiles of post counts league wide, for whatever that means.

Wiggo, aren’t we all entitled to make our own fun in this place?

As long as said fun does not become personal or attacking in a manner which discourages posters from contributing, from rookies joining/staying, from keeping it an engaging and happy environment from all styles of poster?

Happy for constructive criticism, but we will not change the way we have fun.
As I said earlier and I cannot stress this point enough, if we are met with engaging, humorous banter we will respond in kind.

If we are met with “oh no, bombers again, see you next week” bullshit we will respond in kind.

Would the league like capped posts on each thread?

Would you like to put a virtual muzzle on posters who are more engaging than others?

I can agree on one point and one point only, that for the average poster coming home after a days work and seeing ten new pages added to a match thread perhaps may be disheartened and not engage, that’s their choice.

I don’t speak for every Bomber but step into our shoes, if only for a moment, then give your opinions on what constitutes a good match thread as opposed to a shit one.

👍🏻
Sorry, missed this.

In part here, it's almost like you didn't read my posts. I've addressed a few of these points already I reckon.

Of course you're allowed to make your own fun. No one, not even Filthy, is saying that you can't. Just as the majority of us outside the Bombers are allowed to say we don't enjoy it. But no one is forcing anyone to change, or to do anything they don't want to do. Everyone is different, and the fact that one club is an outlier in pure numbers posting wise is fine.

Regarding the banter, couldn't agree more. But I won't banter with people that are just filling the thread with shit. There are some Bombers I actively ignore, because they bore me. There are posters at most clubs I ignore when we meet them for the same reason (but in a different way) And I'm fine with that.

Capped posts? No way. But if someone just posts a ridiculous amount RELATIVE TO to the thread at hand and gets called out for it, don't cry.

Next point is interesting, and here I think is where the big difference lies. You talk about a virtual muzzle on psters who are "more engaging". If by that you mean a poster who is interesting and genuinely witty, no. If you're talking about 150 posts of dribble as being engaging, well then I, and a vast majority of the league, believe that that is clearly not engaging in the slightest.

A good match thread? Two teams both going at each other for the week, with banter that is witty, and sometimes either pointed or silly. A match thread where the majority of the communication happens between the teams, not with one team talking more amongst themselves.

Cheers

I'm amazed I'm on your Christmas Gift list

Oh, er... *adds in Wayne

FWIW you and I don't see eye to eye overly often but when we do fireworks go off.

Matt352 or some variant, he stopped replying to messages in the last season and a half and we delisted him at the start of the year.

I got along with him well, but he copped a lot of heat....

I’ll go back and read your posts.

This was a good one though.

Good, thought provoking response.

Funnily enough, I'm not at all concerned about ABV. He's a bit of a chameleon and happens to have enough free time to post. He'll find his niche and be an excellent contributor to the board.

Gee ... and I was hanging out for your weekly Spam wrapup too .....you mean it's not an accurate depiction of posting .... IIRC there were a lot of Capt's regularly exceeding your spam detector of 14% this season

All in fun ....after all it is a fake league ....isn't it

You are smarter than your counterparts.

Kudos.

So defensive Wayne. I wasn't even having a go at you.

Nearly 3 ******* years 😱😱😱

I feel old :(

I used to be like you, just less spammy. Good thing was I was in a team with blokes named akkaps and grockadoc, so didn’t cop it as much.

I don’t think you’re a bad poster. Annoying as ****? Yes, bad? No. You’ll settle like I eventually did and will be better for it, I have faith in you.

492 😉

Annoying can be interpreted many different ways, old friend.

As I said earlier, people change.
