But as I say their experiment in popln growth may well be the one thing from this unhappy period of world history that humans, 300 years from now, may consider to have been useful.

Your dad sounds as though he was a sharp and wise man. I am not a demographer but at one stage I had a bit to do with ABS. The joint work involved particular Census questions and some other ABS surveys and analysis. (I admit to bias. I consider ABS and its staff to be national treasures)

The folk I met in the course of these projects included some outstanding demographers and statisticians. Invariably they brought breadth of thought to population issues be these growth, health or education.

Some were involved in outside work hours modelling of popln growth projections, not just in Oz but globally. Their views pretty much correlate with those of your dad. Inevitably his work on malaria would have drawn him into areas beyond the science to demography, broader popln health issues and possibly climate change. He would have enjoyed chatting to this young Infectious Disease specialist I mentioned last night. I bet she is aware of your dad's work.

Shyte ... just realised how off topic the above post is. Back on topic, the stunt pulled by Joshua W Spoon was truly a dreadful wheeze. Many a Dee or Prat(t) would have had a sleepless night, tossing and turning fitfully worrying about where the game and their team stood.

As a person with a neutral interest in the outcome of this match, I call on Ant Bear to intervene. I accept he has, yet again, been placed in an invidious situation. Still, Mr Spoon has committed a terrible Qooty crime for which he will need to pay a high price. Some PMs are suggesting a term in Banhammer, others are suggesting he be shanghaied to the Gumbies for a period of five seasons. I sense the dark hand of Barrybran behind the second extreme measure.

I expect the Vegan Bears are disturbed by the recent aberrant behaviour by their leader JoshWoodenSpoon and will be undertaking their own disciplinary measures.
