ROUND 13 - THE NOMINEES

"Unlucky for some"
Well, that was a bad week for everyone, wasn't it?

It seemed like everyone was buzzing from a big week the week before, and reaching the final quarter of the season. What you need to know is, this is the time we need everyone to step up. Finals are on the line!!

The committee discussed and decided that there will be three nominees this week:

omgfridge - GUM (90.30 ARSE)

With almost a 50% bigger arse than the other nominees, we find this Gumbie. He was a large part of his team's winning streak and this game was no exception, staying at the Wing all game and almost matching the experienced Dero . With 20 disposals and 3 tackles, it was a contribution which helped his team massively.

T2B_ - DRA (65.10 ARSE)

Another nom for T2B_! This week wasn't the biggest for the young Dragon, but the most important element was his domination of chelseacarlton . Starting at the HBF, there was a contribution of 11 disposals and 3 tackles.

11kgm - HAW (63.00 ARSE)

Another week, another attempt for this rookie to finally get the nom. He's clearly shown himself as a top-10 forward and a specialist at the Forward Pocket, but perhaps this week his best chance will come if the Committee considers past performances. In a strong Hawks win, at least he beat his rookie opponent Hai_Newman .

WHO IS GOING TO BE THIS WEEK'S “GUN”?

Winner: R13
gun r13.jpg

It's gun time, time to take a look at the candidates!!

round 13b.gif

Welcome to round 13. Unlucky for some, but not all. Twelve rookies have already tasted success, time for someone to Bradbury their way to a nomination. Who are the contenders?

First up is young Gumby omgfridge. He had by far the largest ARSE of all the eligible rookies, thanks to all of that KFC he eats 20 disposals and 3 tackles. Last week's Torch nominee T2B_ of the Dragons kept previous Gun nominee chelseacarlton quiet in their game, while Hawk chick 11kgm did some damage in their remarkable 153-point turnaround from last week. Good efforts from the three of them, but only one standout.

round 13a.gif

Like an elephant showjumping, both omgfridge and his team are letting nothing get in their way right now so it comes as no surprise whatsoever that the Gumby has earned the round 13 Gun nomination.

gun fridge.jpg

I caught up with omgfridge and his captain Barrybran to discuss the nomination. First up it was the the Claymation Captain:

Bob: Hey Barry, welcome back. You guys are on a massive wining streak, and one of the people driving that success is your rookie who has earned himself a Gun of the Season nomination. How does it feel?

Barry: Didn't we do this like two weeks ago? omgfridge was a gun then and he's a gun now. It's rather disappointing that it took you a while to figure it out and you've forgotten already. Lift your game, Bob.

Bob: That was the Torch nomination. Keep up Baz. We're well into the second half of the season now. How has omgfridge adjusted to the life as a full time qooty player?

Barry: Well, since fridge took on the captaincy we're 7-0. We did have a minor mishap where omgfridge forgot to submit a teamsheet and I got the blame for it causing me to miss two matches but we're a team and we don't hold grudges. If I trade him to the Wonders at the end of the season it'll only be because I"m a good samaritan and they need a hand at the moment.

Bob: Where on the ground have they been playing, and what are your on-field aspirations do you have for them?

Barry: Fridgey plays on the wing hence why he's been flying all season.

Bob: Where the heck did that thing come from? Anyhoo, odds are that the Gumbies will see finals qooty this season. What advice are you giving omgfridge on how to deal with the added pressure?

Barry: The odds are excellent, which excites me because we've got a fantastic group this season and after last season they deserve a shot at finals. Fridge's task is pretty simple - don't fu** up! The last time the Gumbies played finals we went out in straight sets. The pass mark this season is a finals win. I've seen a fridge under pressure before courtesy of my uni days. I think he can handle it.

Bob: Now that we're neck deep in season 30, have you noticed any other rookies from other teams that go alright at qooty who you didn't mention the last time we spoke?

Barry: I think we've played the Hawks since we last met and I'm a big fan of PMBangers. He's taken to qooty like GWS to the salary cap a duck to water. Kilroy was good value when we played the Bombers as well.

Nice one. Cheers Barry, all the best for your run to the finals. Now it's over to the fridge:

Bob: Hello again omgfridge. Congratulations on getting your hands on both a Gun and a Torch of the Season nomination, you're in rare company. Remind us again how you made it over to the SFA?

fridge: I've probably told you some story involving the WW game but the truth is I could hear a faint noise. It was the Gumbies crying for help. For leadership. For stability. For an absolute weapon of a qooty player. While I offer none of those things I came to the SFA, took control of the Gumbies and now we're on a 7 game winning streak headed to the finals.

Bob: Oof! How has the season been for you so far? Are Barrybran & the Gumbies still looking after you?

fridge: As before not really, I'm constantly getting delisted/resigned and often put up for trade for much better rookies like Kilroy. In any case all the Gumbies heads are turned at the moment admiring the Adonis that is Rodney Dangerfield.

Bob: How do you prepare for a qooty match?

fridge: I drink expensive beer, eat terribly unhealthy food, sh*t post all week then disappear Friday afternoon and return Sunday night to check on how much we won by. It's working marvelously.

Bob: Decent regimen you have going. What would you like to achieve on the field during your SFA career?

fridge: A flag. People carry on about personal achievements but I just want my Dom Sheed moment (sorry beez). Then I can ride that 1 moment of glory for the rest of my SFA career.

Bob: I remember last time we spoke you saw yourself as a bit of a Colonel Sanders stan. Keen for your review on the popcorn chicken slab - culinary delight or plan to dump expired dinner rolls?

fridge: I found the most questionable thing about it is the addition of bbq sauce. I don't mind some types of bbq sauce (ie the wonderful HJ's Plum bbq) but it ruined the whole experience for me. I'll be sticking with to my order of nuggets with sweet n sour sauce and a side of potato gravy thanks.

Bob: Good to see you're on a diet! Have there been any other teams that have stood out for you on the field, or players that you model your qooty on?

fridge: The Furies and Roys have been my favourite teams to banter with. And as for players not really, like to be my own fridge. Maybe just the complete opposite of that cider drinking Metalcrusher.

Bob: Who else do you think will win the Gun of the Year, and the overall Rising Star? Reckon you’re a shot?

fridge: I am no shot. The consensus in the S30 rookie chat is that PMBangers has been the years best rookie. I personally think Mister M will be right up there. Both my nemeses Supersuns & guero probably think they have a chance, they're that sort of people, completely self absorbed, shop at Culture Kings and walk around with popped collars. No chance.

gun trophy fridge.jpg

That's the spirit! Congrats again omgfridge, here's your miniature novelty trophy.

Alright kids, three rounds left to come get y'all nomination. You'll have better luck if you're playing the Warriors or the Demons, who have been the opposition for 8 of the 13 nominees. Here's a graph saying so:

gun pie r13.JPG

If you're a Wonder you're laughing as you play both the Warriors & Demons still. Unless you're a shittruck on the field, then it doesn't matter who you're playing.

Get cracking!

Following this comment I think I'm always going to visualise Supersuns as James Corden when he was on Gavin & Stacey.

omgfridge it is lines like this that remind me why the Gumbies may not delist you this year.

This is terrific work.

Other rookies, be more like the fridge.

What a coincidence, there were a number of us going to ask if you were prepared to do just that.
Make sure you plug it in.

ROUND 14 - THE NOMINEES

"End of Lockdown"

First up, for those in Victoria, hope you're having a great time out of lockdown.

With only 2 rounds to go after this one, the pressure is on to perform and get one of those final noms.

The committee discussed and decided that there will be three nominees this week. And they all came from the best game this season!

11kgm - ESH (171.00 ARSE)

171 ARSE! 5 goals and 1 behind from the Forward Pocket! A one point victory against the top of the ladder for a massive upset! There was a lot to like about this young Hawk's performance and it is the biggest ARSE by far. He has been nominated for over a third of the rounds, is this his time?

PMBangers - ESH (104.00 ARSE)

But hold up! In what was by far the best team performance in the round, there was another Hawks rookie who was the second half of the great double act. 14 kicks, 9 marks and 12 handballs from the guts meant that service was provided to his fellow rookie and Itsmyshow to match the high-scoring Rats.

projectv - SCS (100.80 ARSE)

But how about the Rats, who played their part in this amazing game? It was projectv who was a key driver of establishing the Rats' lead, scoring 3.3 from the Interchange. He came on, made a big impact and nearly carried his team over the line. It really was a great performance.

11kgm that ARSE is massive

Couple of questions on the Rising Star Award Night:
1. Do team LGs get tickets to the event?
2. Is the function fully catered for?
3. Is there a free bar?

If you answered yes to all 3 questions the Furies LG will be pleased to attend.

If you answered No to question 1; all good as Furies don't need invitations to gate crash

If you answered No to question 2, but Yes to question 3, we will still attend, food is overrated and takes up valuable room for alcohol

If you said No to question 3 we will be in the stolen Bears bus drinking goon supporting our rook Mister M from the carpark

THAT is Channing Tatum performing Let It Go from Frozen on Lip Sync Battle, which some have considered the best LSB performance.
