Now I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there appears to be a rule breach in the Round 1 team sheet submissions.

Our good friends at the Old Boys seem to have made a boo boo.



Now, as we can all recall, the Old Boys got slapped on the wrist for the incorrect player signing of TJohn (HERE).

This, of course, means that TJohn was not signed up as a player during the off-season Free Agency [4D].




This clearly means TJohn was not an eligible member of the Old Boys at the point of squad submission. The next course of action it seemed for the Old Boys was to sign up their new rookie TJohn as a New/Returning Player in the sign up thread (also 4D) over the next few days:



We all waited with bated for this formality to take place...but alas, no. Despite TJohn being active on the Sweet FA sub-forum, there was no application to join.

But then:

It appears that TJohn has appeared on the Round 1 Old Boys team sheet, despite not being a legally listed player on the Old Boys list!!

Now, what rule does this breach specifically? Let's look at 5B:



"An eligible player must have an active BigFooty account, and be listed on the club's Official Squad by the submission deadline, or prior to the team sheet deadline if the player was recruited in-season."
Now TJohn was not legally listed on the Official Squad by submission deadline, due to the aforementioned rule breach, and was not added in-season via the sign-up thread. So one must assume that TJohn is not an eligible player for selection.

Oops!

So what penalty are we looking at here?



Surely, it is either a 6A Major Offence (Deliberately naming a player that is deemed ineligible as per 5B), or 6B Minor Offence (Naming an ineligible player on a team sheet as per 5B). Determining which of these is appropriate will surely be the crux of the Old Boys defence of this charge in the Committee - since the rest of this is fairly straight forward.

Given that notice of TJohn's ineligibility as an Off-Season signing was only highlighted a few days ago, and that TJohn's status as an ineligible player on a team sheet was mentioned IN THE COMMITTEE by an opposing team's representative - that the Old Boys representative SURELY witnessed...I fear that we may be looking at a Major Offence and a loss of 4 premiership points for the Old Boys.

4D) Free Agency

Off-Season

Free agency occurs between seasons from the earlier of; the elimination of your team from finals or the conclusion of the grand final to squad submission date. Free agents may only be signed with permission. Player movement between clubs is unrestricted with permission of the player. The onus is on the club that is making the signing to be able to, upon request, present evidence of the permission being granted within the free agency period. Instances where a signing is disputed or there is no public evidence of the player's commitment to the club can be subject to such requests.

Players who are new to the league signed during the offseason are required to make a post on the main Sweet FA forum confirming their participation with their club before officially being added to the squad.

Any player movement not specified in the rules is not considered legal. In the event of uncertainty, the club must contact the administrator for consideration with the committee.


Failure to adhere to these Rules will be punished under Sec[6] of these Rules, as determined by the Administrator.


6A) Major Offence

The following list of offences will result in a 4 point plus a 2-game suspension for the captain (if there are multiple captains at a club, the captain of the offending club will be randomly selected for suspension) in league standings:

Failing to submit a valid initial squad in the squad submission thread by deadline as per 4A


6B) Minor Offence

The following list of offences will result in a Strike under a 'Three-Strike Policy'. Which is outlined below:

1. Official Warning
2. 1-game suspension to the captain, if there are multiple captains at a club, the captain of the offending club will be randomly selected for suspension.
3. 2 point deduction, plus a 2-game suspension for the captain (if there are multiple captains at a club, the captain of the offending club will be randomly selected for suspension)

Failing to satisfy the maximum squad list requirement in season (30 eligible players) as per 4A
Incorrect squad changes as per 4B
Incorrect player signing as per 4C and 4D
Naming an ineligible player on a team sheet as per 5B
Incorrect spelling of player names in a team sheet as per 5A
Incorrect team sheet formatting as per 5A
Any post in the squad submission thread notifying a squad change that did not occur as per 4A & 4B

The Old Boys submitted a team sheet with rookie TJohn listed as a free agent signing as at the squad submission deadline 11:59pm 29th July 2023, AWST. TJohn's first post on the forum evidencing the signing was made at 9:56am today after the deadline.

Please show me where TJohn made a public post before deadline or completed the sign up form after deadline in time to be listed legally and named to play this week?

This isn't at all dealt with. Kennedy Parker's own rules stipulate that he is not legally registered. Therefore the old balls must delist him and have him sign up in the correct manner before naming him to play.
