So just because an offence was incorrectly adjudicated two seasons ago, we shall stick with that rule-contradicting precedent until the end of time?

Because the rules are fairly clear that there are three avenues to join a Sweet FA team:
  • In season trade or transfer (4C).
  • Off-season free agency (4D).
  • In-season free agency (4D).
4C is irrelevant here, so there are two ways for a new player to join a squad: qualify as an off-season free agent by satisfying the pre-deadline requirements as per 4D - or filling out the form in the sign up thread to qualify as a in-season free agent.

As per the squad deadline, TJohn was not an eligible off-season free agent.

Whether he posted in the Sweet FA forum after the deadline or not at all doesn't matter: he still doesn't qualify as an off-season free agent.

Therefore the only way he can join a squad is by filling out the form in the sign up thread, and joining as an in-season free agent. This is hardly a difficult task, and is not a roadblock to new players joining.

TJohn did not join the league as an off-season free agent. TJohn did not join the league as an in-season free agent. TJohn is an ineligible player.
serial_thrilla: TJohn did not join the league as an off-season free agent. TJohn did not join the league as an in-season free agent. TJohn is an ineligible player.

That's if your going by the rules though.

Kennedy Parker seems pretty keen on disregarding the extensive list of rules in the OP of this thread though. The "vibes" approach seems to suit him more. 🤷

The amount of effort you put into this didactic legalese is truly astounding. I'd rather pull my own teeth with rusty pliers than pore over SFA bylaws to seek revenge against those who reckoned my club bronze, but you be you.

I can assure you the Bombers voted against sanctions mate. o_O

"Insisted on a vote" is an interesting way to put it.

At the end of the day, we should be encouraging participation and content creation but the rules should be followed when there are disputes. All captains are experienced members of the league and know when and how to bring players into their squads.

Would you like to join in the committee discussions?

If I buy you a Rubik’s cube and an Ant Farm will you drop this matter?

The Ophidian Old Boys have been found to be in breach of 5B for naming an ineligible player Bonz who received a site ban in the grand final after the team sheet deadline so he played. That ineligibility carries over to Round 1 S36 but that has not been accounted for in the team sheet.

5B) Eligibility

Players that receive BigFooty site bans (red cards) should not be named in team sheets where possible. Players who receive 'Day Off' bans or Infractions which accumulate points, will only be considered ineligible for one match should it be a direct result of breaching rule SEC[1] or 2A on the SFA Board and should not be named in team sheets where possible. All other day off bans will be not render players ineligible. "Gifted" bans, whether permanent or not will also not render players ineligible for selection.

If a player becomes ineligible after the team sheet submission deadline they will be allowed to play the match they are named in and will be considered ineligible for any subsequent matches after that for the duration equal to that of their ban.

More than one ban given for breaches of SEC[1] or 2A of Sweet FA rules in one season will result in the offending player ruled ineligible for individual awards of that season.

Should a club claim to have been unaware of a banned player, the Administrator reserves the right to waive a penalty.

An eligible player must have an active BigFooty account, and be listed on the club's Official Squad by the submission deadline, or prior to the team sheet deadline if the player was recruited in-season. Closed or permanently banned accounts are not consider to be active and therefore those players must be removed from the submitted squad and the squad minimum criteria must still be met.

No no no, this has never been the case. You're opening a can of worms here for every site ban to be brought forward with regards to Sweet FA games.

If you're suspended at the time of team selection, you're ineligible for that round. If you're suspended during the off-season, games aren't brought forward.

Rules seem to suggest otherwise so I can understand the decisions, but yeah in general I agree with this. That's how I recall it's always been.
